To the anonymous user at 80.77.66.126. Please explain how "His failed tax and spend policies, along with several prestige projects and an art fetish have led to severe cuts in services, especially in vital areas such as education and senior care" qualifies as NPOV.

You are completely entitled to your opinions, of course, but if you want this to be part of a Wikipedia article, it should be presented in an ubiased way with the views of both sides presented.

And, no, I have never in my life voted for the Social Democrats.

Failed policies reference in Ballerup article

[edit]

Despite having one of the highest tax rates in the entire country the commune has been cut services and reduced budgets for education and elder care among others. This is a failure of political leadership and policy.

You made reference to the transfer of tax receipts from Ballerup to other communes but this is a sad effort to point the finger at the national government. The real reason is the mayor's spending of tax monies on worthless and money wasting projects. All of which are meant to add to his perceived prestige and support his self-importance. If the mayor could keep his hands out of the taxpayer's pocket and limit spending to services which citizens need instead of art works of questionable artistic merit, repaving of perfectly serviceable roads, subsidies to fairs and festivals of dubious cultural value, then tax rates could be reduced. If we collected less tax then we wouldn't be subject to revenue transfers.

The mayor is a definitive example of an old style political boss. His time has come and gone. He should retire and the communal council enact srtict term limits on mayoral electees.

I would also suggest that as you don't live in Ballerup that you refrain from participating in the debate. I'm sure Kongens Lyngby has plenty of topics for you.

Well, yes, that is one point of view. The fact is that some people have a different view of the situation. This means that your sentences are not NPOV as mandated by Wikipedia standards. Rather than going into an edit war, would it not be better to remove the problem entirely by presenting both sides of the argument in the article? Edit wars are so unproductive. --Oz1cz 11:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Twin towns (Ystad in particular)

[edit]

I removed a lot of towns that were added without proper sourcing. The sources included links to small clubs that are usually not known for editorial oversight and fact-checking. There was one link that said that three of the listed towns were former twin towns (tidligere nordiske venskabsbyer), and one dead link. Some of the towns I removed were completely unsourced and should not be restored without a reliable source.

Ystad remains, based on one source, but I have tagged it as dubious. Ystad is not included as a twin town or international partner at Ballerup's website. Ballerup is not mentioned a Ystad's website [1]. According to a database at Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner (Sweden's Municipalities and Regions) Ystad and Ballerup has some cooperation regarding among other things education and culture, but not to the degree that they are twin towns or partners. It looks like a mistake by Mr. Møller or by the journalist and in my opinion Ystad should be removed from the list. Sjö (talk) 19:54, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Spidy30. As you have been told repeatedly, most of these are not twin cities to Ballerup, and the source you added only lists two twin cities: East Kilbride and Prague 10. Sjö (talk) 19:51, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Sjö no they are only not two cities they are actually many more and that is why I add all of this link to all of this right here and you should read all of this links by the way Sjö ;) :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.186.116.173 (talk) 20:29, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Sjö, please read this pages and links, right here down below, and some of this links are in danish only if you can read danish properly maybe you can understand why this belongs to this Wikipedia website and that is the PDF file with Burkina Faso, with the former mayor Ove E. Dalsgaard, In Ballerup Municipality, because there is a PDF file where Ove E. Dalsgaard is visiting Burkina Faso to support Ballerup municipality's friendship with this town of friendship that they have in Burkina Faso, and they also have other friendships with some other cities and countries all over the world that is all of this belong on this Wikipedia website on Ballerup Municipality, maybe you can find this in this PDF file Sjö and that is also the same with the two places in China and that is also the same for Ystad In Sweden and that is also the same for the other places in Sweden for that place in Norway and the other Place in Finland is the old Nordic friendship cities in the Nordic countries and they are a statue located in Ballerup Municipality and that statue is made with four elements, one Element from Sweden and the Second Element from Norway and the third Element from Finland and finally the last Element from Ballerup, Denmark Åsnes, Norway Sweden – Fagersta, Sweden Finland – Jämsä, Finland, Ballerup, Denmark – Ballerup, Denmark that is the work behind the statue with the old Nordic friendship countries on that statue they are located in Ballerup Municipality. And Ballerup do also have a Friendship city in Germany and also in many other countries too as well, and that is why they are added so many links and websites for this Wikipedia website and also so everyone should know it too, everyone can get to change know it too and also so they can get the chance to learn something new and maybe learn something they never know before, because we are only human and humans learn new things every day, every single day 356/ 366 days on the whole year and maybe some humans learn some things from all websites or maybe from some old websites too and I hope you understand this Sjö and but anyway thanks for the understanding, Sjö.

Yes, I can read Danish. Well enough to know that "tidligere" means earlier or former, which means that ref 14 says that Åsnes, Fagersta and Jämså are no longer twin cities. And every single one of the cities that you want to add are unsupported by reliable sources. Sure, ref 5 says that there is some international contact, but it does not say that Ziniaré is a twin town to Ballerup. Besides it is a newsletter from a small club which means that it is not a reliable source. Ref 8 is just a list of names that support nothing, and ref 15 is the name and address to a Kultur- og venskabsforeningen Ballerup/Burkina Faso that says nothing about any twin town in Burkina Faso. I could go on but the point is that every source except 1-3 (which by the way are the same link repeated three times) is either unreliable, do not support the text, or both.
And for God's sake, learn to write coherent sentences and to indent and sign your contributions to talk pages.Sjö (talk) 20:31, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah but still you need to read something, something very important information about Ballerup from some of all of the links and website I have show to you and all of you here on Wikipedia, But first I find it very important information and show all of you what that is ;) :), 1. East Kilbride 2. Brandenburger an der Havel 3. Ystad 4. Wuxi and this information is from DR.dk from Denmark’s Radio and they are many more information from this website right here but I am not sure but I can find from all the website I have here in this link, because I’m not stupid at all and I know a lot of things too and that is why that guy behind Wikipedia or that person they have invented and create Wikipedia in the beginning he makes Wikipedia to a contains a lot of information that is why all of us can do the same here on Wikipedia because they are a lot of people out there in the world they know nothing about something other people just know about things and stuff sometimes they are not important from the only person but something there may be more important for another person people out in the entire world ;) :) Ballerup, Wuxi, East Kilbride, Ystad og Brandenburger an der Havel

Ballerup, Wuxi, East Kilbride, Ystad and Brandenburger an der Havel

According to municipal director Eik Møller, Ballerup Municipality spends around DKK 700,000-800,000 a year on the twin towns of Ystad, Brandenburger an der Havel, the Chinese city of Wuxi and Scottish East Kilbride. But out of a budget of around two billion kroner, the money is well spent, Eik Møller believes. - We can see a need to show our children and young people that there is a world outside Denmark that we can introduce them to and give them the opportunity to experience. Every year, Ballerup Municipality sends students to, for example, Germany, so that they can get to know the culture, language and schooling in another country. In addition, they have made contact with the Chinese authorities for a company from the municipality that would like to enter the Chinese market. Alt sam- men ganske pessimistisk.

Boundless friendship Ballerup - Burkina Faso. Beginning Burkina Faso in the suburb of Ballerup west of Copenhagen could seem to be an exotic size, even though Ballerup as a municipality has always placed great emphasis on international relations: twin cities in Norway, Sweden and Finland - distributed after the war by the association Norden, East Kilbride - a new town in Scotland near Glasgow, Prague 10 - a suburb of Prague in the Czech Republic after the fall of the Iron Curtain, a network of suburbs to capitals in the EU and most recently a city in China. But sometimes Burkina Faso and with special relations to the city of Ziniaré close to Ouagadougou. It started with me getting a job as an external consultant at the film festival Fespaco in Ouagadougou during periods of leave from my job as communications manager in Ballerup Municipality. "See if there should be any opportunities for cooperation", the then mayor Ove E. Dalsgaard told me the first time I went there in the summer of 1992. At the same time Ballerup had good contacts for the festival "Images of Africa", and it turned out , that the two parties could already in 1993 work together to get a few guests up from Burkina Faso. It was the bronze caster Ali Nikiema and the dance group Wamdé. In addition, film director Gaston Kaboré, theater director Prosper Kompaoré and journalist Norbert Zongo visited the "Images of Africa" festival. The bronze caster got a permanent place on the construction playground in Skovlunde and sat there for 2 1⁄2 months talking to the children who came to the "builder", all the while he and his assistant cast a large bronze figure for Ballerup Municipality, as they called " Rogmik- Lagngo ”, which means cultural union. The Wamdé children were accommodated in the small culture house, Baghuset, and participated in the summer holiday activities, ie. they made workshops where the Ballerup children could learn to play the drum, sing and dance, and the girls could make thin Africans braids, and finally the group participated in the Ballerup Music Festival. These first small contacts were such a great success that the municipality got blood on its teeth to continue with the project. It was at a time when Burkina Faso became a Danish program cooperation country, and when the then Minister for Development Aid Helle Degn, under great pressure, visited Burkina Faso on that occasion. It was also a time when much was heard about the heavy debt burdens of the African countries, about the plague of AIDS, about drought and hunger and about the dumping of beef prices by the EU, which destroyed the African export market. All in all, quite pessimistic. Seen in that light, the Africa relationship came at a good time, which could create a little optimism and give a little nuance to the otherwise gloomy picture of the African continent. Wuxi – Ballerups venskabsby i Kina

It is one of the most vibrant cities in China and it attracts many tourists with its beautiful location between river, lakes and mountains. In recent decades, Wuxi has undergone a colossal development from a relatively quiet city to a vibrant metropolis with an urban landscape that is constantly changing. The pictures from Wuxi show this development.

Wuxi is one of the first cities in China to be photo-documented. The photographer Xu Shou started taking pictures of everyday life and city life in Wuxi as early as 1877, and since then many other photographers have followed suit. The many historical images appeared in the archives of Wuxi. Now the pictures are exhibited in Wuxi's twin town Ballerup, where the audience can explore them and take a trip to Wuxi through a time tunnel. 10. OKT 2019, 11:20 - SIDST REDIGERET 10.

10 OCT 2019, 11:20 - LAST EDITED 10 OCT 2019, 11:28 A completely different everyday life kineserelever2-copy.jpg The students from Ballerup got an exciting insight into the Chinese everyday life. They were staying with local families during their stay, but also had time to go on trips and be tourists. Eight students from different ninth grades in Ballerup Municipality have just returned from a 10-day exchange stay in our Chinese twin city of Wuxi and Shanghai. BY THE EDITORIAL OFFICE :

The Danish students lived privately at the home of local families in Wuxi and were allowed to participate in a regular Chinese school day.

Students began and ended their trip in Shanghai before moving on to the city of Wuxiog Experimental Senior Xishan High School. There was also time to be a tourist, and the students visited, among other things, the sacred Buddha figure and the world's second tallest tower in Shanghai.

Some of the things that especially impressed the Danish students were what the Chinese students' everyday life looked like.

“First and foremost, the Chinese's school days are much longer than in Denmark. They meet at school from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and afterwards they have to do homework. It also means that many Chinese students stay at the school from Friday to Monday, because it is easiest in relation to the long school days, ”says one of the Danish students who took part in the trip, Anna Skotte from Måløvhøj School.

The Chinese way of life is also very different than here in Denmark.

"They go to great lengths to be polite. In Denmark, we say things more bluntly, and do not wrap things up so much. In China, they go to great lengths not to lose face, ”says another of the Danish students, Victoria Branth from Måløvhøj School. This information right here is translated from Danish to English.

Politik nr. 4 Målsætning Rejser i BSF

Policy No. 4 Goals Travel in BSF

It is BSF's goal that all youth teams come out to travel once a year!

The trips can be arranged by coaches, managers, parents or by the club. BSF has various friendship clubs in Denmark and abroad, just as trips can be arranged through sports travel agencies such as. Euro-Sportring. Euro-Sportring is a travel company that has a UEFA license to arrange sports travel. Addresses, contacts, etc. can be obtained from BSF's Board of Directors. Finance / accounting / budget Before the trip is arranged, a budget is prepared, which is handed over to the finance managers on the board for approval. In order for approval of the trip to be expected, the budget must be balanced and it is assumed that unforeseen expenses are budgeted for. In connection with travel arrangements, BSF does NOT want to spend money, which is why a deposit is paid for each player who participates in the trip according to the payment plan agreed with the travel agency or similar. The principle is that any arranged trip must be self-financing at all times so that it does not strain the club's finances. All money is paid into the club's account (9570 - 12076053) and subsequently posted by the club's cashier to a separate outlay account, earmarked for each trip until the trip is completed and final accounts are prepared (no later than 3 weeks after returning from the trip). The accounts are handed over to the club's treasurer with attached documents as documentation for all expenses and income. Furthermore, an invitation and a complete list of participating players with an indication of birthday and year must be enclosed. It is further assumed that all payments for travel arranged under the auspices of BSF are paid upon delivery to the club's treasurer. Grant options In BSF, it is possible to apply for travel grants via FTGBU. Applications to FTGBU are handed in to the cashier, who forwards them. Applications for the season must be submitted by the end of November. It is also possible to apply for a grant for the trip through DBU's Ungdomsfond (for example, for trips arranged by Euro-Sportring or other sports travel agencies). Grants through DBU’s Youth Fund must be made collectively by the club and made by the chairman. In addition, it is possible to apply for a grant from the Nordea Foundation Denmark. Further information can be obtained from the chairman. Finally, Ballerup Municipality provides subsidies to all teams traveling to twin cities with the following rates: Kr. 100.00 pr. player per. Accomodation - East Kilbride (Scotland) Kr. 75.00 pr. player per. Accomodation - Prague 10 (Czech Republic) Kr. 50.00 pr. player per. accommodation - Nordic twin cities (Fagersta in Sweden, Åsnes in Norway and Jämsä in Finland).

The Baobab tree

A bronze sculpture from Burkina Faso of one of the world's largest and probably most mystified trees. Art - The Baobab Tree by Aly Dermé For many years, Ballerup Municipality has had contact with Wamde, an orphanage in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou. Children from Wamde have on several occasions visited the municipality and, among other things, performed with music and dance. Through this contact, school inspector Gunnar Ebbesen from Højagerskolen (Skovvejens School dept. West) became aware that there was a bronze foundry workshop in Ouagadougou, specializing in creating Baobab wood sculptures.

The baobab tree belongs to one of the world's wood species, which easily grows over 1000 years old. The tree plays a significant mythological role, and often stands lonely and majestic on the African savannah.

An agreement was reached and one day in 2007, a pallet from Burkina Faso arrived with a bronze tree, desperately wrapped in foam rubber and plastic. Later, the tree was planted on a small lawn at Skovvejens School dept. West. It is recommended to go very close and look at the many birds, lizards, etc. which populates the tree.

Venskabsbyskulptur

Opstillet 1992 Ole Gjermandsen (f. 1942).

Town twinning sculpture

A monument created by Ole Gjermandsen in honor of the Nordic twin cities.

Ballerup Municipality's former Nordic twin towns are beautifully represented in a sculpture at the former senior center on Linde Allé. The Danish visual artist Ole Gjermandsen has created the sculpture, which consists of materials from the three cities: DKK 15 million. year old granite from Åsnæs in Norway, steel from Fagersta in Sweden, ceramics from Jämsä in Finland and handicrafts and water from Ballerup. The four steel rails symbolize the four Nordic twin cities.

The work is divided into two parts, the other part is located on the building's facade towards Linde Allé.

Built in 1992 Ole Gjermandsen (b. 1942). This information right here is translated from Danish to English.

Like I said at your talk page, don't add walls of text. Instead, point to the specific sentences that supposedly support your additions, and explain with reference to WP:RS why sources like newsletters from small clubs are reliable sources, and why Ballerup's own website is wrong when it lists their twin towns. 16:29, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
The discussion should be very straightforward, really. There is a very reliable source for the municipality's twin cities, and that's the municipality's website. It lists Prague 10 and East Kilbride, as well as Wuxi and Brandenburg an der Havel as partnerships. Those four should be the only ones mentioned under twin cities. If a town isn't mentioned on the municipality's website, it is no longer a twin city. With that said, we also don't need two sources for every twin city. A single reference for all the twin cities is plenty. Kaffe42 (talk) 16:50, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Normally I would agree that one source per city is enough. In this case, there is a stubborn sock that insists that there are more than the four cities on the municipality's website. So I thought it best to source that these cities show Ballerup as a twin city and others (like Ystad) do not. Sjö (talk) 16:56, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So please read what I have sent to you and stop removing this because that is maybe because you cannot read danish or maybe you don’t think I am right or maybe you’ll think you are the only person here in Wikipedia they are why didn’t everything but you’re not and and also in this link is writing something to and I have too many things for you and help you to understand this, I have also tried to help you to understand this and I also have, I have also tried to help you so you better can read this link on danish that is why are translated that from danish to English but you can still not understand it or maybe you remove it from Wikipedia only because I am smart and clever and you decided to remove this because you think you are smarter in everyone here on Wikipedia no that is wrong because he on Wikipedia, because he on Wikipedia they are space for everyone and everybody here on Wikipedia to share what they know about different things and stuff too because they are lots of people inside the United States of America a lot of them know nothing about places in Denmark and other places like in Sweden, Norway and many other countries as well too and so on, that is why people’s and person’s like me is doing what we are doing to share history and other things and stuff because we are only human and humans learn something new every single day, Sjö. And maybe you think other people see it on Wikipedia is stupid but they are not, maybe they not know all things about different things and stuff they are here in the entire world, so please read but I have sent to you Sjö, instead of removing it and delete it instead of it, so please read it Sjö. https://www.dr.dk/nyheder/regionale/hovedstadsomraadet/its-not-you-its-me-kommuner-kapper-baandene-til-venskabsbyer. Inside this text they are something about Ystad in Sweden, so please read this Sjö.

This information right here is translated from Danish to English. And if you remove this that would not help anything at all and not that will help you at all as well Sjö.

You keep telling Sjö to read through what you're sending, but you're actually entirely ignoring his messages yourself. As I see it, you disagree on Ystad not being included. The article you link to is from 2019. Since then Ystad is no longer a twin town of Ballerup. The entire article is even about how municipalities are getting rid of their twin cities.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.186.112.26 (talkcontribs)

You really should either create an account or log in, and try and write more coherent sentences, because this is starting to look a lot like vandalism or trolling. I work on the articles for all Danish municipalities, and I've read the article you link to numerous times since it came out. And it very simply says that Danish municipalities are cutting down on twin cities, but Ballerup is one of the few that still use them. Check out the municipality's official website if you're in doubt about things like this. In this case that is Ballerup.dk. Things like twin cities isn't some local historical detective work, it's very simple facts. The official websites will always have an updated list (which they also do in this case). And after looking at their website again, it actually occurs to me that only Prague 10 and East Kilbride are actually twin cities. The other two are partnerships and should not be listed. Kaffe42 (talk) 18:09, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I added Wuxi and Brandenburg, together with "and international partnerships" hoping to find a compromise with the anonymous editor. I have no strong opinions about having them in the article, only about the long and unsourced list of other cities. Sjö (talk) 18:56, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Twin towns and sister cities

[edit]

This reference confirms East Kilbride, Ystad, and Brandenburg an der Havel. [<spam> This reference] appears to refer to Ballerup itself, and in any rate does not confirm this extended list even if it did belong on this article which has yet to be determined. FDW777 (talk) 12:19, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see this has been discussed at #Ballerup's twin towns immediately above also. FDW777 (talk) 12:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure we should be relying on DB City instead of the official reference you linked, so we should definitely keep the list of twin towns to the three official ones. And yes, this was also an editing conflict around this time last year too, and I suspect the anonymous editor is the same person. Kaffe42 (talk) 13:32, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DB-city doesn't seem to be a reliable source. There is no indication of where the data is from or how it is checked and it is at least partly user-generated. The company behind it, Advercity is in the business to make high-traffic websites, which to me sounds like high traffic is way more important than correctness.
