Cleanup

[edit]

I wikified and tried to cleanup this article. One of the most unusual things was that the article appeared to contradict itself regarding the first use of a balloon carrier. The article seemed to claim that the Austrian Navy ship Vulcano and the Union (United States) ship George Washington Parke Custis were both first. It did not make sense because the American Civil War (1861–1865) occurred long after the 1849 use of the Vulcano. The article did not provide any additional information that may have validated the claim of the George Washington Parke Custis being some kind of first, such as the first use of a balloon carrier for reconnaissance or the first balloon carrier to use a gas balloon rather than a hot air balloon. Therefore, I took out the claim of it being the first use. -- Kjkolb (talk) 03:11, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
