Sound of bangles?

[edit]

Is this section really necessary? Especially since the section's title includes "(unfinished)" and the writing is not particularly encyclopedic. I'm not going to act, but hopefully someone who knows a little more can do something here. Eris Discord | Talk 01:44, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Worn where?

[edit]

The article seems to do its utmost to omit mentioning exactly which part of the body bangles are worn on. JIP | Talk 14:58, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File:Bangles Ornaments.jpg to appear as POTD soon

[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Bangles Ornaments.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on November 16, 2016. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2016-11-16. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 06:00, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bangles
Bangles on display in Bangalore, India. These rigid bracelets are usually made from metal, wood, or plastic and are traditionally worn by women in India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In India, it is a common tradition to see a new bride wearing glass bangles at her wedding and the honeymoon will end when the last bangle breaks.Photograph: Muhammad Mahdi Karim

Not just South Asia

[edit]

While the tradition of wearing bangles may have started in South Asia, I think it's pretty clear the fashion has traveled worldwide. How has this article completely ignored this fact? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:33, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article is chaotic!

[edit]

This article currently is in a chaotic state. I just moved one piece of text away from the "History" section up into the overview text, but after this saw that two more chapters have nearly identical content as the overview, which itself really also is not an overview but a chaotic heap of quite specific informations better placed in extra chapters.

I came here after reading a Wikipedia article about British bronze age gold works, where British bronze age jewellery items were called 'bangles'. So if 'bangles' refers to all 'rigid bracelets' all over the world of any era, the overview/ the article clearly has to be changed; The Indian & neighboring countries and other regionally very relevant traditions and fashions should of course be told, but surely (sorted) in a different way than now. 2A02:3035:C17:408D:1:0:6268:4B05 (talk) 11:14, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
