continuity error[edit]

I'm for removing that paragraph (or grouping it under "notes" or "trivia" or whatever). The mentioned scene isn't so much a continuity error as it is a breaking of the 4th wall (show within the show), and shortly afterwards we see Steve all healed again. Fifth Wall[edit]

The link referred to the previous event as "breaking the Fifth wall. According to Wikipedia, that would be if the characters referred to other characters played by the same actors (like if Snot mentioned "Revenge of the Nerds"). If that IS what was meant, please explain the references, because I missed them. Meanwhile, I explained how the show broke the Fourth Wall twice.

Way non-canon[edit]

OK, according to character bios Steve is a freshman in high school, which would make him (and also his friends as they're all in the same grade) 14-15 years old. This fact is used to advantage in the episode where he starts puberty. A bar mitzvah is performed when a young man TURNS 13. This would make his friend Snot about to turn 13, and the character Etan as well. This would make all the group 12-13, which would put them in 7th grade -JUNIOR HIGH! This is a big break in the show canon, having the characters take part in events that should have passed several years before, for the whole episode. I know it's just a cartoon, but at least McFarlane could have done a timely event, like a 15th/16th birthday for the theme. That is not what canon is. Canon, with regard to American Dad, is whatever McFarlane and the writers want it to be. If it is on the show, it IS canonical. That's just the way it works.--172.190.66.90 (talk) 03:48, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Etan Cohen may not be a reference to Ethan Cohen[edit]

Etan Cohen is actually the real name of a writer who has worked on at least on episode of American Dad! (Failure is Not a Factory installed option). He has also produced an unknown number of episodes of the show, according to IMDb. Thus, this may be a reference to him, but I can't be sure. iPod parody?[edit]

I think there's an iPod parody in the episode. I can't find anything about on the article. It parodies the Genius and VoiceOver features of the iPod (newer generations) on the first scene of the episode ("the fart machine").
