Tribal affiliation

[edit]

@User:TJMSmith Which tribe is Morris enrolled in? The Comanche Nation is the only Comanche tribe, but there are three Cherokee tribes. Which of these tribes is she enrolled in? The Comanche Nation prohibits dual enrollment. So she's either enrolled Comanche or enrolled in a Cherokee tribe, but cannot be both. She's either a Comanche Nation citizen of Cherokee descent or a citizen of a Cherokee tribe who has Comanche descent. The article needs a source clarifying this, otherwise this is just self-identified descent. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 02:57, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@User:TJMSmith As I have previously told you, it is impossible for her father be "Cherokee and Comanche". He's one or he's the other. Which is it? Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 03:16, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm not sure if she is enrolled in a tribe or not. This source [1] has more info, explaining that her Cherokee heritage is through her paternal grandmother and that she has traced her ancestry back to the trail of tears. Morris is in the "American people of Cherokee descent" category which states "This category page lists notable citizens of the United States who claim to have Cherokee descent. For people who are enrolled in Cherokee tribes, see Category:Cherokee people." She is not listed in the Cherokee people category. TJMSmith (talk) 03:18, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
