Class/importance rating

[edit]

Contains a lot of information about the subject, all main areas are filled with content that is relevant and organised. Mid-importance is simply because although BSC are known in South America, they are a lot less known in Europe, Africa and Asia. However, needs a lot of editing for policy and reference reasons, but also because of the sheer number of lists in the article and language problems ("The maximun Striker of BSC is the Ecuadorian Manuel Uquillas with 86 Goals"). Once these elements have been solved then a GA nomination wouldn't be absurd, nor would an upgrade to A-class. Shazback 16:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Before this goes into an edit war, let me clarify a few things.

  • Viteri was released by Liga in December, which means we was not attached to any club for a time. This made him a free agent. Barcelona signed him as a free agent. That's a big difference from being transferred over from Liga.
  • FIFA's section on "Classic Football" is dedicated to the history of the game. As part of it, they publish articles on classic clubs (Emelec and Liga have one, but not Barca), important one-off matches, important players, and significant rivalries. By no means is an article on the Clasico del Astillero any statement of "official-ness" or saying it is the only rivalry in Ecuador. Liga v. Deportivo Quito, Manta v. Liga de Portoviejo, Macara v. Tecnico, among others, are all clasicos, but not at the level of Barcelona v. Emelec. Yes, it is the most closely followed rivalry in Ecuador and the most watched game, but that's about it. As to importance, it is only important to Barcelona and Emelec fans for pride, and therefore, it is not important to Ecuador as a whole. The championship final for this season, for example, is now the most important match in Ecuador because it will define the national champion. No clasico is that important, no matter how big the rivalry is. Digirami (talk) 21:41, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • First of all Digirami you are starting the edit war, second by the history of you edits you are a LDU quito fan and I respect that, but you can't come and add that Barcelona's new rival is LDU quito and that Barcelona's popularity is decreasing, especially among young people, there is a certain RESENTMENT among Barcelona's fans because Liga de Quito is much more POPULAR in South America. Those are opinions of a fan, not facts. I think you are Ecuadorian because you support LDU Quito so should be proud that Barcelona VS Emelec is recognized by FIFA as one of their Important rivalries match and on their website and not only FIFA but in the world, people consider (not Ecuadorians) around the world Barcelona VS Emelec like River VS Boca, Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona, I've travel around the world a lot because of my job and iam doing this edit thru my phone right now and i've met lots of people (weird ones too) and when they asked me where i'm from, they have no clue what is Ecuador or where is it located, but some of them know about El clasico del astillero and not only that, but Ecuador's National soccer team is being recognized and fear, believe or not(Compare to 12 years ago and before we were a joke to the world).I am a Die-hard fan of Barcelona but i was proud that LDU Quito won the Copa Libertadores back in 2008, why, because I'm a Proud Ecuadorian and finally a club from Ecuador won that darn Cup and represented our country well. If you lived in Ecuador,Its like the Superbowl, whether you team made it or not most Football Fans watch that game and they do parties, ect. from the moment you wake up you heard about El Clasico, whether you are in Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Ect..La Prensa are waiting for this day because of the amount of money they make, TV ratings are high, street vendors are going crazy for the amount of money they make and whether you are a not a Barcelona or Emelec Fan you will watch the game. I remember back in Leon Febres-cordero(RIP) Mandate as the Head of state of Ecuador, he was proposing to declare El Clasico as a Holiday. So it is the most Important match in Ecuador Economically, Emotionally, Historically and dangerously(You need a minimum of 1500 officers).
  • You did get me on the transfer of Viteri, i read that LDU Quito had the rights and he was being loaned to Barcelona, but then again i read another newspaper and stated he was released from LDU Quito. What is going inside Barcelona is Unknown, Eduardo Maruri has never said anything about this player or how much he is getting paid, inside Barcelona's Directory is a Mistery..
  • I like the way you put the names Vertically and remove the number of the player in and player out, some other wikipedian added and i don't know why i never removed them.
  • I have noticed you have improve LDU Quito's Page a lot and are a good Wikipedian but please Respect Barcelona's Page and instead of putting Opinions, put facts with Citation. As you might have notice my history i have never caused a vandal on LDU Quito's Page.Dante mad666 (talk) 03:10, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
First off, I never added the section the "rivalry" with Liga. Check the history. It came from an IP user in Minnesota, and I live in Miami. So you can delete it... I don't care. My edits with this page mainly deal with keeping it objective (it's a problem that persisted on Liga's page too). That's my problem with the "clasico del astillero" section. FIFA's article on the rivalry was first published before the clasico last year and was written to highlight the fierceness of the rivalry. It is by no means a statement saying the rivalry is the "FIFA official derby" of Ecuador. FIFA doesn't do that. Digirami (talk) 03:40, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Once and for all, let's make clear what a Clasico is (for those who don't understand it). First, a Clasico is a game between two teams of THE SAME CITY. The English equivalent is Derby, again, a Derby is a game between two teams of the same city. There is no such a thing as a Clasico between two teams of different cities, in the world!... The only exception two exceptions I can think of is Mexico with America-Chivas, and Barcelona-Real Madrid in Spain, but one is called Super-Clasico, and their notable difference is those are both widely promoted and accepted by the press of both countries. Does the press in Ecuador widely promotes the game Barcelona-Liga? NO. Barcelona-Liga is more a wishful thinking from Liga fans. Csavinovich (talk) 16:32, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
