Supposed attractions at Barmedman[edit]

The following sentence, unsupported by any reference, has a number of problems and needs to be deleted:

"The area is growing more popular each year with visitors viewing the famous historic fire engine at the Rural Fire Brigade Station and ghost hunters at the abandoned Wargin Railway Station where a headless horseman is believed to haunt an old settlement since the early 1800s and gold panning in the district."

Breaking it down:

There may well be an "historic fire engine" in the NSW Rural Fire Service station, but it is highly doubtful it could be described as "famous". An internet search finds no references to this supposedly "famous" fire engine in the Barmedman fire station (except the few websites that copy text directly from Wikipedia").
The next part refers to "ghost hunters at the abandoned Wargin Railway Station where a headless horseman is believed to haunt an old settlement since the early 1800s". Wargin railway station is a station built in the 1920s on the closed branch line between Barmedman and Rankins Springs. Wargin is actually closer to West Wyalong than it is to Barmedman. It may be that someone from Barmedman is conducting some sort of ghost tour to Wargin, but whoever it is they don't advertise on the internet (the only hits are Wikipedia and sites that copy text from Wikipedia, plus an enquiry on a forum from somebody that probably read about it on Wikipedia).
The sentence concludes with a reference to "gold panning in the district". At least here you can come up with some sort of verification (for example a mention in: "Gold Prospecting Locations: New South Wales / A.C.T.", along with a large number of other localities). Many places in NSW have well-organised and advertised opportunities for gold-panning, but Barmedman isn't one of them; it is just one of many locations where gold was previously mined.
The opening statement of the sentence, "The area is growing more popular each year with visitors", is highly questionable and is unsupported by the rest of the sentence (see comments above).

Barmedman's actual major attractions, the mineral pool and the township's historical associations, are well covered in the article, so this badly-written sentence full of dubious and unsubstantiated statements is not required, and actually detracts from the remainder of the article. Because of Wikipedia's high standing as a quality online encyclopaedia, and the fact that other websites copy text directly from Wikipedia, I contend that keeping this sentence would constitute spreading misinformation, and it should be deleted.
