Bias

This article is a typical example of a stub generated to grind an axe, libel or defame. It contains no neutral/standard CV-type information about the subject, only his/her involvement in whatever controversy or negative incident has caught the fancy of the writer.

I urge adherence to WP:BLP, WP:NPOV, WP:V/WP:RS. If no improvements can be made, the "controversy" rubbish should go as well.

Where is the support for the allegation (made on other pages) that Townsley is Jewish? Townsley is certainly not a Jewish name, and no credible source can be found that supports the claim that he himself is Jewish. JFW | T@lk 22:01, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I would caution against removal of the paragraphs referring to controversy. The source of the majority of this information comes from reliable investigative journalism of the broadsheet papers.

Having sat through the Langbar International v Rybak case in the High Court, I was well aware of the subject's direct involvement in the formation of the fraud company and his position as figurehead of an offshoot company. Whilst there is no evidence to show that the subject was actively involved in the fraud, his brokerage company was involved in the formation of Crown and there was more than enough evidence from Banque SCS in Switzerland to show that Crown did not have the assets which it claimed. The case was ended by a settlement before Townsley was due to give evidence. It's highly likely that the cross-examination would have uncovered any complicity or negligence on the part of the subject or his company. What we do know is that he was connected to the fraudsters. As tenuous as this might be, the previous scandals show a 'track record' which some might consider poor choices or questionable activity. One brings to mind the much quoted Oscar Wilde - To lose one parent may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.
