Very close to GA standard, good job! Comments as follows:

1a Largely there but I have a few concerns about extraneous commas, which I have tried to remedy. Please have another look through.
1b Generally strong but I would prefer to see a more extensive lead given the thoroughness of the article. Please expand to 2-3 paragraphs of the most interesting things about him, e.g. involvement with the Comet and Lonhro.
2 I have spot-checked and sources appear fine, though I have been unable to verify any of the offline sources. I note heavy reliance on autobiography and on media coverage, which isn't a bar to passing (though Featured Article reviewers might be more strenuous on this point).
3 to 5 No concerns here, body of article is admirably broad and through. Good job.
6 No concerns. Images are appropriate and illustrative. My eyebrows were raised when I saw DH106_Comet_3_G-ANLO_FAR_1954.jpg marked as "own work" on Commons, as historic photos are not often "own work". However, but on briefly reviewing the uploader's contributions and checking for other uses of that image online I have no reason not to AGF.
