Peridium 2-3.5 cm. in diameter, 1-2 cm. high, smooth, membranaceous, lower part flat, showing the line of dehiscence distinctly: stem hollow, equal, 1-1.5 cm. in diameter, 9.5-15 cm. long, sulcate, pealing fibrillose: volva fairly well marked, com- posed of a few appressed fibrillose blunt squamules : capillitium 4-10 ,t wide, whitish, flattened, rather amorphous, branched, and having a large number of cells mixed with it: cells darker than the capillitiurn, with spiral markings and annular thickenings, 6-8 t. wide, 24-8 5 ,J. long: spores subglobose, minutely verrtucose, looking smooth except under very high magnification, reddish- cinnamon colored, 4-5 pJ. in diameter.
