I don't know how to cite sources, and I need to know so my edits aren't deleted. I wouldn't mind having help from an admin. I need to cite a book.

Never mind, I figured it out...

The references provided are very thin. Is this article really accurate? LuxNevada (talk) 14:18, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Something is completely wrong in this article

[edit]

It says that King Herod fought a battle 70 years after his death. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.178.99.83 (talk) 22:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Worst defeat suffered by regular Roman troops against a rebelling province in history?

[edit]

I know that quote comes from the 'Ancient Rome: Rise and Fall' TV series, but I think it's a bit of artistic license. I can think of at least two others 'Boudicca's revolt' a few years earlier and the Battle of Teutoburger Forest in AD 9 (three legions were wiped out there) causing the Romans to give up on turning Germania into a new province. And no doubt there are more. 1812ahill (talk) 17:32, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Better Source Needed"

[edit]

Why are there "Better source needed" tags on everything from Josephus? Josephus's works are primary texts - the fabric of history, if you will. It might be better to say, "according to Josephus," since, of course, ancient authors were not always thorough or unbiased and do bear some scrutiny. What we DO need a better source for is the "Roman Army Website," which is actually a -you guessed it- web forum on ancient warfare. Web forums are NOT acceptable sources and I am deleting it forthwith. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.242.181.38 (talk) 03:24, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"missile fire and arrows"

[edit]

Sound a bit anachronistic. Perhaps, "arrows and other projectiles" would be better? Викидим (talk) 21:25, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
