Ongoing or 27 February to 5 March?[edit]

How can the battle be ongoing and at the same time have ended on 5 March, as the infobox says? That is self-contradictory. --2A02:AB04:2AB:700:99C:EA23:71D9:B0C9 (talk) 07:54, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

According to Ukraine president advisor Oleksiy Arestovych the coty was captured 5 March, but someone is editing it as ongoing. Source CNN: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/06/europe/ukraine-russia-invasion-sunday-intl-hnk/index.html DrYisus (talk) 17:21, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shelling on the 6th[edit]

Why would the Russians be reported shelling the city on the 6th if it was taken on the 5th? It’s contradictory. 70.21.18.8 (talk) 12:00, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fight still ongoing - Irpin/Bucha/Hostomel[edit]

There is no clear winner in this battle. Ukrainian forces push forward. Then Russians. Then Ukrainians again. This is also due to the territory. Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel are very close together (50km²) and there are not really physical boundaries between the cities. It all merges into one, so it's hard to tell if the fight is over or not. I would propose to merge "Battle of Bucha" and "Battle of Irpin" and add "Battle of Hostomel" (Not Battle of Antonov Airport which is clearly something else). Name it "Battle of Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel" or "Battle of Kyiv Northwest Suburbs" or "Battle of Southeast Bucha Raion". They are all part of the Bucha Raion and just too hard to distinguish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pettylein (talkcontribs) 19:17, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A Cappella tag[edit]

@ArsenalGhanaPartey:, might you be able to explain why this article has been listed under Wikiproject A Cappella? I am unable to find any reference to singing. Best, Toadspike (talk) 03:08, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I did not mean to add it so I'll remove it ArsenalGhanaPartey (talk) 17:17, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A local news media in Irpin has stated that the counteroffensive has begun as of 30th March 2022. There are active fighting in Bucha and Hostomel. The fighting in the region resumed now even on the territory of the city of Bucha -> Date should be changed to Ongoing again. Bucha Massacre[edit]

Added a new section entitled The Bucha Massacre. This will probably need its own page soon but I thought adding it to this article was appropriate. Thanks. Dippiljemmy (talk) 22:37, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dippiljemmy, please read WP:NPOV as to why that title is a terrible idea. Curbon7 (talk) 02:52, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. To preserve neutrality, it should be called what it was— the 2022 Bucha Pogrom. 160.39.63.101 (talk) 03:21, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Curbon7, terms not in accordance with WP:NPOV should be avoided. EkoGraf (talk) 13:52, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, let me know when its safe to proceed calling a massacre a massacre. It took a couple of days for the nomenclature of "special operation" to be called an invasion, so I'm willing to wait. Cheers. Dippiljemmy (talk) 01:44, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. This is ridiculous. We have photographic evidence and detailed reports from reputable news sources of hundreds of civilians killed, many while bound on their knees. These are not "allegations" of Russian war crimes, there is no dispute here. Neutrality does not mean blindness to the facts of the situation.Wolf359Locutus (talk) 22:40, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Timing of Bucha liberation / retaking: April 1 (in the evening)[edit]

Ukrainian victory?[edit]

I'd say Ukraine won the battle as they kept the city in the end despite occupation by Russian troops before. Fijipedia (talk) 01:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To Whom It May Concern[edit]

There is a YouTube video out, showing a Russian soldier taken captive and who fought in the Battle of Bucha, until his tank was hit and he was wounded. For what it's worth, and for giving a broader picture of the vagaries of warfare, I am posting it here for editors to see and to expand their knowledge about the war:
