As for "combattants" on the "Austrian" side, the conflict was between Venice and Austria, but the battle was apparently mostly between the invading Venetians and defending local troops of (a) the bishopric of Trent (an independent state allied with Austria), and (b) the county of Tyrol, which was nominally an independent state of the Holy Roman Empire, but in actual fact a part of the Archduchy of Austria, as the title of count had been held by the House of Habsburg since the 14th century. --dab (𒁳) 14:51, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
