@Gabara2: I've approved the article as I think it's good enough to do so, but I just wanted to drop a note here and suggest that it would be worth expanding the context behind the battle a bit in the article. It wasn't necessary for getting this approved, but I think it would help the article out a lot and help people understand why the battle took place. Turnagra (talk) 05:07, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article is from a book written by a modern Assyrian commander who was upset about losing the battle and the massacre that followed which is why he created his own narrative. According . According to Brigadier-General Hugo Headlam, the British acting inspector-general of the Iraqi army:
"The Iraqi Army was attacked at Deirabun by a force of almost equal rifle power, consisting of men who have a great reputation as fighters, the majority of whom had received training in the levies. If these rebels had achieved what they undoubtedly expected to do and had "mopped up" the Iraqi troops at Deirabun, there might have been a disaster of the first magnitude, the far-reaching effects of which might well have proved irretrievable. The government and people of Iraq have good rea- son to be thankful to Colonel Bekr Sidki and his force for their success on the 4th-5th August." 37.237.117.9 (talk) 02:30, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
