  • After teasing you with several edits (and out of nostalgia for a birthplace I haven't been in nearly two decades) I will take this one up. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 15:36, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Prose Suggestions[edit]

Please note that almost all of these are suggestions, and can be implemented or ignored at your discretion. Any changes I deem necessary for the article to pass GA standards I will bold.

Lede[edit]

  • The Battle of Helena was a battle of the American Civil War fought on July 4, 1863, in Helena, Arkansas. suggest The Battle of Helena was a fought on July 4, 1863, in Helena, Arkansas, as a part of the American Civil War
    • Done
  • Later in the year, Union troops used Helena as a jumping-off point for their successful campaign to capture Little Rock, Arkansas. suggest Later in the year, Union troops used Helena as a staging ground for their successful campaign to capture Little Rock, Arkansas.

Background[edit]

  • Slavery was a key issue. this bit here is pretty awkward, suggest either rewriting to In December 1860, the state of South Carolina seceded, as a result of a number of disagreemnts with the federal government, slavery chief among them, or something similar.
    • Done
  • (the United States was known during the war as the Union), suggest moving this to be an efn after the first mention of Union (currently Beginning in late April, Union forces
    • Instead of footnoting this, I've shortened and moved the mention

Prelude[edit]

  • The three officers formed a plan to concentrate Confederate forces against Helena, somewhat awkward with the usage of the three generals at the end of the previous sentence, suggest There they formed a plan to concentrate Confederate forces against Helena

Battle[edit]

  • finding that the Union guns could not be turned on the Confederates, this seems to be miswritten, unless I'm failing to understand; "turn on" would make it seem as if they were attempting to fire upon the Confederates... i.e. themselves. Perhaps finding that the Union guns could not be used,
    • Done
  • believing a general attack was in the works suggest believing a general attack was in progress
    • Went with "was beginning"

There’s a dong on the link from the main page[edit]

Idk how to fix it, but figured I'd let someone know 2603:6010:7A2A:7BF0:AC3B:E471:49BB:7B66 (talk) 20:47, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's vandalism that hasn't been cleared out of the cache. Clearly the product of some demented and perverted mind. Hog Farm Talk 22:39, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of hyperlinks from pages that does not exist[edit]

Hi, I notice that on the page there are three hyperlinked pages that are in red i.e. the page does not exist. Wanted to check if we can remove those hyperlinks. 35th Missouri Infantry Regiment, Joseph Bledsoe's Missouri Battery and Tilden's Missouri Battery. --Asad29591 (talk) 18:55, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Asad29591: - Please do not remove these links - see WP:REDYES. I don't have the time at the moment to adequately write articles for those subjects but they are on my to do list. Hog Farm Talk 22:49, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
