A fact from Battle of Nisibis (217) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 11 September 2007. The text of the entry was as follows:
Muslims not in Parthian History. Further this article fails to mention Roman desecrations of Parthian graves. Rome bit off more than they could chew. The Parthians were relatively peaceful. Rome was always the aggressor. This battle virtually ended the Parthian Empire as the loss of life was so great. Parthia dispels the myth of Roman invincibility. Rome has to resort to treachery to get Parthia on an even footing. The maji of Christ’s birth were from Parthia and is why Herod was so concerned with an arrival of 5-10,000 troops with maji to worship Christ at His birth.
