Bold and italics completely appropriate

Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Remember that this article is not a standard flowing narrative, it’s a glorified list. Where the MOS says don’t use bold and italics for emphasis that makes perfect sense in a standard article, but in an OOB their use is the only way to make it at all readable.

Then there’s the abbreviations of military rank. I don’t think that requires any explanation.
