Screenshots[edit]

Can we get some brighter (and overall better) screenshots? The current ones aren't bad, but they aren't good either. Eptin 21:38, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rave Gun[edit]

There should be sum mention about that strange Rave Gun in the first level of the American Campain. When its continully fired, it plays techno music in time with the shots and flashes difernt colours. Its found behind the baracks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.173.220.203 (talk) 22:34, 17 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

"I know that the same Rave Gun is also in Battlezone II: Combat Commander." - Lucky Foot 19:01, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Battlezone Strategy Forum[edit]

User "Spock Bz" vandalised battlezone wiki by removing the Battlezone url to the main web site. He is 78.1.110.162 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.95.151.219 (talk) 16:06, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Dart, the below forum (battlezone1.freeforums.org)is distructive to the game and the admin of it is abusive to the players in many ways. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.236.160.23 (talk) 22:42, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I entered a link to Bz Strat Forum (http:// battlezone1.freeforums.org) and Dart deleted it, twice, calling it "inappropriate external link".

He wants me to discuss it here before re-adding it. Did anyone discuss about adding that other forum to External links?

What's the problem? Bz Strat Forum is just another forum that supports Battlezone. I thought External links is about that. Was I wrong? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spock Bz (talkcontribs) 11:18, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Links shouldn't be added just because they exist. The other site is more than just forums. Yours is solely forums (and links to such are normally to be avoided) and is brand new to boot. I haven't been as active on Wikipedia over the last year or so and haven't always checked up additions to articles.--Drat (Talk) 11:55, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are 3 active Bz1 forums. BZC (already listed here), Bz Strat Forum and Sector Zero. BZC is death match forum, Bz Strat Forum is (obviously) a strategy forum and Sector Zero is forum about new Bz, Bz Enhanced (in development). I think that all 3 should be listed here because each of them represent something about Battlezone. Therefore I didn't add that link just because it exists, I added it cause it means something. Battlezone is not just a first person shooter, it is real-time strategy (from first person view). When you make a game (inside of BZ) you have to define will it be strategy game or death match and you have to choose appropriate map (strat or DM). BZ Strat Forum supports those players who play strategy games. Battlezone is primary a strategy game (check single player and what it is about), DM is just a part of it. Truth is that more people play DM than strat, but that's just because stratter play DM and DMers don't play strat. Strat is also harder than DM and that site (you are not allowing to be linked here) helps players to improve their gaming. So tell me again, why not allowing it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spock Bz (talkcontribs) 13:26, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Over the months Battlezone 1 Forum (ex BZ Strat Forum) evolved into important BZ site. Not only that it offers latest game news, strategy tips and technical help, it also has the newest BZ installer (BZ 1.4M), made by that forum. New players and old coming back, in most cases, need just that download and possible installation help. Wikipedia should help them find it. In the past Bz 1 Forum was rejected, because it was "just" a forum. Today, for all members and readers, of a 10 years old game with less than 100 players, it is more than just a forum. For example, present external link "BZ Files", offers old BZ installer (BZ 1.4L) and "BZ Club" is "just" a forum. So how about adding Battlezone 1 Forum, which is "BZ Club" and "BZ Files" in one, in external links? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.0.71.152 (talk) 21:44, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless, links to discussion forums violated WP:EL and can not be included in the article. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 16:09, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

URL to the cummunity web site is meritable, accessible and appropriate to the article and the only reson the game is still running today, i don't see how it violates WP:EL check the link before vandalising it people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.95.151.219 (talk) 18:30, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It violatese several guidelines, most notably that its simply a community site and does nothing to add specific information relevant to the article. Additionally, "Wikipedia's purpose is not to include a comprehensive list of external links related to each topic." Likewise, your continued conduct and cries of vandalism against long time editors are violating WP:Civil. If the conduct continues, the page will be sprotected and your IP will be cited. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 19:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This site was listed till vandalised, this is not simply a community site it is a 501 c 3 non profit org that is responsable for the continueation of this game. Yor WP:EL states excepttions for meritable, accessible and appropriate to the article and i don't see why you guys don't want to allow it now when it has been here soo long. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.95.253.214 (talk) 20:05, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It being here for a length of time has no bearing on the issue, and is also covered by policy. It simply means people did not notice it to remove it yet. A community site does not offer merit for enhancement of an encyclopedic article. That's not saying it doesn't offer merit for a community of Battlezone gamers, but that has little bearing on an encyclopedia. This is an encyclopedia, not a listing of community support sites. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 20:13, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It can be reworded if community and club are unwanted text. Why can't a non profit organazation that runs the pc game battlezone be listed under external links? You haven't commented about that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.95.253.214 (talk) 20:45, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Every single one of my comments has been regarding that. Once again, a community site does not offer merit for enhancement of an encyclopedic article. This is an encyclopedia, not a listing of community support sites, game support sites, or the like. Very strictly, the external links are for material that directly enhance the content of an encyclopedic article (a link to an interview with the designer for example) - and even then the policy is that such links somehow try to be integrated in the main article as a citation if at all possible. A general community club website on a game is not any of that sort of material, and fails the critera. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 21:10, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Battlezonecover.jpg[edit]

Image:Battlezonecover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Recent citation and WP: Citing self-published blogs[edit]

My recent edit (2018-01-25 20:39) made some changes to the wording of the end-of-support section regarding the 1.5 patch. Included are corrections of the project's start and first release dates, as well as mention that its development has now ceased. One of the included citations is Ken Miller's LiveJournal blog, which for compliance with Wikipedia: Citing self-published blogs requires me to note that its reliability can be confirmed via his website videoeventure.org.
