Top popularity contest + Article[edit]

I suggest we have a mention that the school is first choice when it comes to selective schools. Please see this article:

mr sinclair[edit]

i wanna put in a bit about mr sinclair. if you went there you know who im talkin about. how about it? --Ballchef 05:35, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, i was just thinking this the other day. this is an encyclopedia, not an advert. can anybody dig out some old news articles or anything?

that's rather slack. baulko was a great place - why tarnish it's reputation by raising a story of an event that was out of the hands of the school? Guol (talk) 09:52, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why? Because readers may come across references to Sinclair, or the school in connection with Sinclair, and want to turn to their favourite trusted, neutral source for unbiased information?
  • Eamonn Duff (2010-01-17). "Forbidden love affair in past as Nicki blooms". Sydney Morning Herald. Retrieved 2010-03-15. Nine years on, Mr Sinclair has reconciled with his wife, Sabina, who is writing a tell-all book about the saga. Even though the couple have moved to France, Mr Sinclair continues to draw $317.20 in weekly compensation payments after the Workers Compensation Commission found the Department of Education's investigation into his conduct caused him 'psychological injury'. Ms Shackle changed her name to Nicki Bloom, married, moved interstate and is an award-winning playwright who is off to the US after being named selected playwright-in-residence at New York's premier theatre event, the Summer Play Festival.

Incorrect Ranking[edit]

I say this with the greatest respect, having graduated this year and contributed to the number of merit list mentions, but shouldn't we be listing % of exams that scored the highest band, rather than the number of exams sat which achieved this. If we continue with the current system we are painting a false picture of the true ranking of the school, to understand why consider that a school with 1000 students each sitting 5 exams could score 1000 merit list mentions placing it 1st in the state, even though the actual percentage of exams sat which received a DA was only 20%. In contrast a school with 100 students each sitting 5 exams could score 500 merit list mentions, which would place it 5th or 6th in the state even though 100% of the exams its students sat scored in the highest band, a feat Baulko and even Ruse could only ever hope to achieve.

From what I can recall both the Telegraph and the Herald use the percentage system, which means that continuing with the number system could constitute original research. Regardless, the switch must be made because it inaccurately portrays the school as performing better than it does, sadly this means that this year's year will have to be listed as coming 4th in the state, rather than 3rd, but hopefully the change will come to benefit us in the future. 58.170.18.245 (talk) 23:52, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BHHS LOGO.gif[edit]

Image:BHHS LOGO.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

{{editsemiprotected}} Model Farms High School was not the school using Baullkham Hill High while their school was being built, it was Galston High School....

 Not done

Actually, I think it was BOTH Model Farms and Galston High which were with Baulkham Hills High when they started up. Although the only evidence I have for that is my father's testimony. Just to back up his reliability, he attended Baulkham Hills High in 1974, and lived very close by (5 minute walk), so I would believe what he said about it. So maybe I could edit the article to include Galston?? BTW, I believe those other schools were only at the Baulkham Hills High campus for 2 years at most, as the schools grew and their own buildings were finally built. listed under extra curricular activities there is "The Assorted Nuts Club" there is NO such club in existence, rather it is an attempt to vandalise the page by the group who call themselves "The Assorted Nuts Club" as a student in that particular grade i would like to request a edit Luftewaffle (talk) 13:36, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most popular Selective High?[edit]

Would it be just plain boasting on our part if we were to add references to the SMH article stating that BHHS has been the most popular school for 1st choice of Yr 6s for the last 4 years?? I mean, I could see it being put like: "Baulkham Hills High is considered the most popular Selective school for applying year 7 entrants" or something, but I don't know if that something you would put into an encyclopedia.

Anyone have an opinion on it?

Antonyh3 (talk) 02:41, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah.. I don't think that it's a particularly interesting encyclopaedic fact.

Danjel (talk) 11:30, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Enrolments[edit]

Minor, I know, but the current enrolments listed doesn't take into account the support unit (or the fact that Dr. Bathgate claims there is a larger year 7 cohort this year). Last year's enrolments were officially 1178 (MySchool website...)? Should we bother changing it, or leave it as it is? Antonyh3 (talk) 10:52, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The 1178 figure comes from the school locator. Which means that the number is current as of Term 1 last year. That is the official public number (until it gets updated), so I suggest we stay with that.
It would probably be better to use an approximation though. ~1200 is much more accurate (moment to moment) than an exact figure. Thoughts? -danjel (talk to me) 11:20, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Lucky7654321, 6 April 2011[edit]

In the list of extra-curricular activities, please note that there is also a Photography Club.

Lucky7654321 (talk) 09:09, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done, although the list is getting unwieldy... -danjel (talk to me) 09:45, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

I think that this page should be partially restricted to prevent vandalism. A couple of times the deputy principals have brought up the fact that people are vandalising the page, especially the extra-curricular activities (adding "pole dancing", "break dancing" and the "juggling club"). As funny as that is, and as strong a focus the school has on juggling ability these are not endorsed by the school.

Most of the offending edits are by IP addresses and not registered accounts, so by allowing only registered account holders to edit the page most of this vandalism should be reduced.

Thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.108.186.144 (talk) 00:32, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

I agree that there is a vandalism problem. It would be useful if you (and anyone else involved) could WP:REGISTER, keep the article on your WP:WATCHLIST and react whenever this happens.
This is all I (and other wikipedia editors) can do at the moment as the article probably won't meet the criterion for WP:SILVERLOCK. ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 04:36, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated template?[edit]

The template up the top is from November 2016. Is it still relevant? Is anyone still here?
