Tag[edit]

Sources for the alleged loss of citizenship are a) not refering to Husen and b) the purported mechanims is a rather maybe in the German article. Better check that. Whoever let that loose on DYK, has neither understood nor read the sources in question. Serten 09:05, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

That part's ok. The source he had his passport taken away. I've clarified it. I'm more concerned about the fact that I don't see support in the source for the previous sentence, which says he tried to join the Wehrmacht. Point is, Hansen probably never had a full German citizenship, so he couldn't loose it. 1934 he was allowed to travel to Tanganyika for a film shot, so I doubt the dogooder story about him being discrimized from scratch. According the biogyrphy, he applied for service in the Wehrmacht and I don't see any reason to doubt that. He was neither a "child soldier" nor a scholar nor an actor, but a sort of working class jackofalltrades, and a Ladies guy as well. He managed to marry a pregnant lass while another kid was underway and got both kids and a third one raised as one family with the official broad. That wouldn't be the trodden path today, but doing that as a black guy in 1933 berlin shows some skill. Serten II (talk) 01:29, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it more conventional to refer to his "life" being covered by a biography, rather than "His afro-German fate", which is a rather unusual (if not bizarre) wording.Royalcourtier (talk) 04:21, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship[edit]

There is some speculation about citizenship. However shouldn't the starting point be what is actually known of the citizenship of the residents of German East Africa?Royalcourtier (talk) 04:26, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Frontkämpfer-Abzeichen[edit]

If Husen was eligible for the Frontkämpfer-Abzeichen he would have received it. Eligibility would have been described in the relevant regulations. I doubt that the regulations exclude Africans, in fact I am sure that I have seen photos of African veterans with medals. If Husen wore the Frontkämpfer-Abzeichen don't we have to assume that he was awarded it, rather than assume that he broke the law by buying a medal from a dealer? Don't Wikipedia rules require that we presume that someone has not broken the law?Royalcourtier (talk) 04:30, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
