No remake of 'Gone With the Wind'

The article incorrectly -- and rather ludicrously -- stated that Luhrmann was directing a remake of Gone With the Wind with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. This is patently absurd. He's making an Australian history film with the pair, which has often been described in the press as "an Australian Gone With the Wind," meaning that it's an epic like GWTW. I also removed the unsourced reference about Catcher in the Rye. Given that Salinger won't sell the rights to the book for a film adaptation, a fact which is well documented, such a claim here is patently silly. Carmela Soprano 18:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Going round in circles

I've tried to clarify the high school information in the article, but everything I've found seems to reference this article as a source. The best I could find was information suggesting he attended Narrabeen Sports High School in year 11 (1979), but it seems he may have attended up to 3 other schools in his senior years. Can anyone find more conclusive information? Daff42 (talk) 00:18, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

I have adjusted this to only include information I could verify. Daff42 (talk) 00:22, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

"Anti-Kubrick"

I removed "the Anti-Kubrick" from the summary section at the front of the article for the following reasons: (1) If you are suggesting that Luhrmann is commonly known as "the Anti-Kubrick" you need to provide a citation and preferably an explanation as to why this is. (2) The words linked through to the article on Stanley Kubrick, which doesn't really strike me as providing a definition of "anti-Kubrick". V1oletv (talk) 21:58, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Hit single

Wasn't this the man who, in the very late 1990s, had a hit with Every One's Free to Wear Sun Screen? This could be mentioned in the article unless I have missed it. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 23:09, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

It was in June 1999 when he was number one in the United Kingdom Singles charts with this record, as mentioned on

Neutrality

I flagged the page as not neutral because I came across a few sentences that sounded quite partial and contained no references, i.e.

A diverse and groundbreaking talent, award-winning filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has made some of the most influential contemporary film, theatre, and music of the past twenty years.

the groundbreaking modern film interpretation of William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet

Luhrmann's sweeping romantic epic Australia

The whole page sounds like it was written by BZ's agent, omitting any criticism of any of his works--which there's been quite a lot of. 162.224.80.57 (talk) 05:34, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

Baz?

It would be nice if the article told us why he is known as Baz. HiLo48 (talk) 03:43, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
