Date of Birth

[edit]

Does anyone actually have a reference for the 1984 date currently on the article? I just reverted a change to 1977, but actually that is what IMDB says. Looking around the internet though there are several years mentioned. 1977, 1979, 1984 and 1985. Which one is it??? Martocticvs (talk) 18:26, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB has it as 1977 still. Honestly, when it comes to an actress often cast on their looks, there's a lot of fudging of dates for casting agents - but the earliest date is usually right. She certainly looks (to me) like she's in her 30s, not her early-mid 20s in 2012.
I added a reference for the 1977 date, pointing to the IMDB page. The only sites on a google search that give the 1984 date are wiki mirrors. So unless someone can come up with a more reliable source, I can't see how any other date can be supported right now. Martocticvs (talk) 22:26, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So can the users putting in the year 1984 provide a source? If no, then the date should be reverted to 1977 per IMDB as the only one (as mentioned above). --ConCelFan (talk) 07:37, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why IMDB, which states her DOB as 1977, is being used as a source for listing her DOB as 1984. If we're going to keep reverting it to 1984, at the very least there should be another source used which states it as 1984 and not 1977. Aoa8212 (talk) 06:10, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RfC: Date of Birth

[edit]

What year should be used for date of birth? Unresolved discussion can be seen above. --ConCelFan (talk) 19:13, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Use 1984 or give no date. Her DOB is either verifiable or it isn't. The above statement implicitly concedes that 1977 isn't verifiable either. There are lots of sources using 1984 but IMDB uses 1977. She doesn't look in her mid 30s to me. If her official biography says DOB 1984 then it is a serious BLP violation to contradict this simply because we think she looks older and we think what the IMDB says is probably right. So to repeat the policy: if her age isn't verifiable, we should give no age. If we consider both her official bio & IMDB as reliable sources then we should note a discrepancy in reliable sources. Erring on the side of politeness in favour of what it says in her official biography is certainly better than erring the other way. Alex Harvey (talk) 13:06, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment #1 Took several years for the official biography to finally get updated. Before that, there was no mention of year there, and the alternative was IMDB. Now this should resolve the dispute. --ConCelFan (talk) 19:00, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • 1984 I have not been able to verify the site as her 'official' site though it certainly is respectful of her. I added to the intro and way it could be stated without claiming for sure. I am not offended with a revert, just illustrating. If there is a dispute over age, perhaps we should call her. ^smile^ DonaldRichardSands (talk) 17:19, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Only use a sourced date If there are publications more notable than the current one that provide an alternate year of birth, they should be noted in the article, perhaps in the Personal Life section. Ender and Peter 03:15, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Some women get younger all the time. Maybe somebody has seen her earliest movies, in which she is supposedly 14 or 15 instead of 21 or 22. But we are not supposed to do OR, so I guess will have to go with what your sources say. MakeSense64 (talk) 15:35, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment A user claiming to be Beatrice was recently blocked due to constant edit reverts over her supposed actual birthdate as well as the fact that said user provided no actual proof of her person.Duhon (talk) 05:56, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
