Near blanking?

This long (albeit poorly sourced) version [1] was recently blanked and then prodded as "non notable", with an additional comment of "copyvio?"

I see this practice of deleting an article's content, then claiming the remainder to be inadequate as unacceptable and downright dishonest. Nor does a "copyvio" claim carry much weight, unless it states where it was copied from. Combining the two, claiming that there are no sources covering the subject to support WP:N, but that there was such a source and the article was copied from it, is also paradoxical.
