YouTuber
[edit]YouTube is a commercial name. Using the term "YouTuber" advertises YouTube, without Wikipedia making any benefit about it. A neutral term should be used, like "vlogger." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2a01:e0a:ab7:fa80:f969:4ea1:8c8f:e6b9 (talk • contribs) 06:20, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- See: YouTuber — It's in the Oxford English Dictionary [1] so this isn't really an issue. Aluxosm (talk) 12:24, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Science communication - also a podcast
[edit]To the Science communication part, there is also the podcast "The Supermassive Podcast".
Izzie Clarke (science journalist) and Becky Smethurst are the two hosts on every episode.

BLPPRIVACY? Not really.
[edit]A recent edit adding the birth date was reverted. She herself published her birth year in the comment. Erkin Alp Güney 14:55, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Comments on public YouTube videos have no expectation of privacy, even by Wikipedia's standards. Erkin Alp Güney 15:00, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- In fact, the example mentioned in the policy was like:
- A verified social media account of an article subject saying about themselves something along the lines of "today is my 50th birthday" may fall under self-published sources for purposes of reporting a full date of birth. It may be usable if there is no reason to doubt it.
- In this case, the quote was "Voyager 2 was launched the year I was born", which corresponds to and is also explicitly mentioned by the sibling comment as the year 1977. Erkin Alp Güney 15:05, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Quote about accent
[edit]The quote there was added to signify the specific comment by Dr.Becky is used as the source, rather than the video itself, but the removal of ?lc and the quote removed that information. Erkin Alp Güney 14:58, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Erkin Alp, the quote is presumably included within the video, so why do you feel it's important to add it to the reference itself? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:05, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- It is explicitly not, I happen to know because I have watched the entire video. It is only mentioned in the comment with the ID cited. Erkin Alp Güney 15:07, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- If an author's reply to an off-topic (compared to the main topic of the source in hand) response (in a social media or A/V media post) is an unacceptable self-published source, that needs to be explicitly mentioned in the policy. Erkin Alp Güney 15:11, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Erkin Alp, I see what you mean now. Please take down the intensity a notch—we are trying to have a civil discussion about a minor point on a low-importance Wikipedia article, there's no need to be so forceful. I never said anything about what is or isn't acceptable—I'm merely trying to understand your perspective. I'm still curious to know, how does adding the quote to the reference reinforce it or make it more clear? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:42, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
