[edit]While obviously not as famous as some S.F. Bay Area music groups of the era, Beefy Red's membership included two musicians who are well-noted, and others who later played and recorded with notable solo artists and bands.
Additionally, in performing on a bill headlined by Bo Diddley and Lightnin' Hopkins at the legendary Fillmore West, they played an undeniable role in the history of that institution. Jusdafax (talk) 19:50, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Self-rating as 'start' class and 'low' importance. Happy to discuss further. Have a couple pictures of the band to add, including one at the Fillmore West. Jusdafax (talk) 19:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
NOTICE: I'm removing the 'non-notable defunct band' tag for the reasons I cite above. Beefy Red played the Fillmore West and other famous S.F. Bay Area venues, but most importantly is cited in Wikipedia articles about Barry Finnerty and Mark Isham, both of whom are highly- repeat, highly- notable musicians. Finnerty performed and recorded with Miles Davis among other greats. Isham is an award-winning Hollywood film composer. This article adds more information on their origns to their biography articles.
The band is also being mentioned (as noted in references) for a Marin Music Museum. It played a notable role in the history of the Bay Area music scene.
Huge band? No, as I said above. Notable? Yes. I'll fight for this one all the way.
This is a valid article, laid out correctly, complete with picture and a good number of references. I've seen much worse in Wikipedia go unchallenged. Again, I firmly reject your tag. Jusdafax (talk) 02:35, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
