I think this is copyrighted. I looked on google: they sent me to www.geocities.com/SoHo/Canvas/2049/ THE_THRACIAN_TOMB_IN_KAZANLUK The description reads word for word, but I could not get in. Will someone please check. Danny

It's the same. I could attempt to rewrite this, I have some textbooks with some info on these...it won't be great though, I don't really know anything about this period :) Adam Bishop 06:49, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)

etruscans, etc.

Can we not make this article about the BA bee-hive - tholos tombs of the Aegean? --5telios 08:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Could someone give me a reference to the etruscan tombs - do they exist or is the poster who originally mentioned them mistaken? --5telios 14:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)aegan are the most brilliant in constructing the tholos room

Oman

Would anyone object to moving the oman paragraph to its own entry and giving it a "see also" note on this page? The two are clearly not linked in any way beyond a presumably superficial resemblance and an accident of naming. --5telios 14:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Oppose. I'd like a reference for that, because it's the first time I read about Omani tholoi but the case is that tholoi/beehive tombs are not an exclussive Greek phenomenon, as my recent edit, including mentions to Iberian tholoi (virtually identical to the Greek ones but much older) and other tholos structures along the Mediterranean should make evident.
The very design of the article (at least before my little expansion/clean-up) seemed to state that tholoi tombs are a merely Greek (Mycenaean) phenomenon, what is far from being the case. --Sugaar 14:20, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
as is clear in the text of the article about Oman, whatever these are they are not canonical Tholos tombs as defined. You ask for a reference above. For which statement do you want a reference?
I ask you to tell me about your own statements: The Iberian tholoi are virtually identical to the Greek ones in what respect? a mini metro and a nissan micra are also virtually identical to someone who does not know about cars.
There may be a need to disambiguate and set apart the article for the Greek tomb-type from everything else calling itself a tholos tomb. The key difference is the chamber of the Greek tomb-type is underground whereas everything else described as a tholos on this page (including the minoan examples) is above ground. --5telios 17:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

tholos

This page redirects from "tholos." This creates a problem as, if I understand correctly, the term "tholos" refers to more than simply "Beehive tombs." It also refers to circular temples such as the one at delphi (and I think there's one at olympia, though I don't remember off hand). This distinction could be clarified. I'd do it, but I'm new and don't know how.--MS

Dctyler (talk) 01:33, 18 September 2017 (UTC) I agree that redirecting this from "tholos" is confusing, and there should be a separate article expounding upon that term and its usage in Greece. The article does seem a little Greece-centric as well, with a majority of its images being from there.

Age & possible connection (transmission)

I couldn't find almost anything in the article about the apparition and transmission of the technique, or any comment about it being a separate development in different periods and areas. That's a BASIC piece of info. As it is now, the article is little more than a list, to which each local patriot adds his own country's monuments with the oldest possible age.
