Sources for rebel fighters[edit]

@EkoGraf: Re this edit - I did not intend to put HTS presence into doubt. Adding a "citation needed" tag doesn't mean claiming something isn't true; it means we need a good citation. (I tend to use the "fact" tag, as I did here, rather than "cn" tag, when the fact itself is not in doubt but just needs verifying.) Al-Masdar News has indeed been deemed reliable when it comes to territorial changes - to the extent that SAA (their main source) gives them reliable info on these. It has not been deemed reliable for identifying rebel groups, their commanders or casualties, as it seems to consistently misreport these, tending to identify non-HTS actions as HTS. If HTS is one of the belligerents, it should be no problem to simply find a reliable citation saying so. In the same edit, my tag identifying Hezbollah's Al-Manar as unreliable was also removed. Is this considered to be of the same status as Al-Masdar? Again, the claim being made there is not necessarily controversial; I just don't think we should use Al-Manar as a source. The third source there is SouthFront. It may generally report accurately, but is it considered an RS? Finally, this edit makes it look as if HTS is the only rebel group. Is that true? The article lists two others, so presumably isn't. BobFromBrockley (talk) 12:44, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
