Image[edit]

There's an image here - [1] - that would be good for the article, however, it's from Getty Images, and therefore fails WP:Nfc. Is there any alternative that could be used, or a tag that could be put on the image? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sir Magnus (talkcontribs)

I found a useable image of the actual aircraft when serving a previous operator. Mjroots (talk) 19:21, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Passengers killed[edit]

It seems that all those killed were Kazakhstani and that there were only four foreigners on board, but haven't really found an unequivocal statement. The four foreigners named here do not appear on the list of 12 dead, but both these pieces still talk about "15" fatalities; Radio Free Europe is clear, but not a RS, per WP:PUS. So can better sources be found, perhaps in the local press or Government press releases? Davidships (talk) 02:43, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Condolence section[edit]

The condolences section was useful, even though not directly, to know which countries care about which. It was not politics (the messages were not supposed to be in the article, just the names of countries or entities who cared).

Will leave it to your judgement. 69.165.208.6 (talk) 03:08, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to see it gone. It's not about "caring", it's just diplomatic bumf. WWGB (talk) 04:08, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Countries" don't care, people (which may include leaders) do. Everything else is politics. Not encyclopaedic content. Davidships (talk) 10:18, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is not needed, it is routine diplomacy for everyone to send condolences. --Hippeus (talk) 12:08, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A building with two floors, levels etc[edit]

The continued reverting of "story" for "storey" and vice versus is tedious (often with a unilateral claim of correctness). Both are correct - it just depends on whether the article is to be in British or American English. Is there any point in story or storey if nobody looks it up? The word was first introduced here as "storey", so unless there is other text that has established a different EngVar, MOS:RETAIN applies and Template:Uw-lang can be deployed as necessary. Davidships (talk) 23:09, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, but I doubt that those inclined to change to "story" will check here first. WWGB (talk) 00:24, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Indeed you are right, but at least those who are signed in can be advised directly by Template:Uw-lang on their talk pages. Davidships (talk) 02:50, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

the area[edit]

impacting a two-storey building in a residential area

the area was not a residential, the building was illegal https://iz.ru/964809/2020-01-16/dom-s-kotorym-stolknulsia-samolet-pod-alma-atoi-byl-postroen-nezakonno 82.200.143.211 (talk) 06:51, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've attempted to rewrite the section in proper English. I would appreciate it if someone familiar with the Kazakh language would check my work, as I was relying on the translation tool in my web browser. Carguychris (talk) 19:48, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The iz.ru site appears to be written in Russian. Google Translate's "detect language" feature detects Russian. WhisperToMe (talk) 13:46, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Google Translate wasn't cooperating with me at the time. In any case, I think this page needs an update by someone who understands the Russian language, as I absolutely don't trust Google Translate on technical documents. (My son and I translated excerpts from an automotive service manual into German and back a few years ago for fun, and the results were alternately nonsensical and hilarious.) Tattile[edit]

I think tattile in "the tattile inspections on the leading edges of the wings" is a typo, but for what? Tactile? ϢereSpielChequers 20:37, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
