In the spirit of the Living-person biography notice at the top of this page, I'm about to remove the part about choosing not to seek re-election "largely due to the Proposition B turmoil."

There is no citation here; the link goes to someone's sandbox who is obviously a gun activist, and it at best makes a tangential and unstated claim of Cook's involvement. There is certainly no mention of it impacting her future political ambitions.

I searched high and low, but could not find any news/press mentions of this being an issue. The only things she herself said suggested her reasons were personal. Further, in her future Lt. Governor race this issue was minor at best.
