Reasons for verdict and suggestions

Category 1a - Where there is a chunk of text, prose is good, however, there are a few one sentence sections which breaks up flow, for example, the 2006 Turin section.

Category 1b - There are quite a few current redlinks that need removed. As above, there are quite a few very very short subsections that needs expanded on.

Category 2a - Although there are a smattering of relevant links, much of the article is devoid of references. the entire medal table needs referenced, as well as any mention of who won what medal at each of the Olympics. A few examples:

  • "Athletes from Belarus began their Olympic participation at the 1952 Summer Games in Helsinki, Finland."
  • "The first Belarusian gold medal was won by Ekaterina Karsten in the event of rowing (women's single sculls)."
  • "Belarus sent 151 athletes to compete in 21 disciplines."
  • "Belarus competed in 9 events"

Category 2c - As there is a lack of references, it suggests to me a lot of this article is original research.

Category 3b - Even though there are more expansive articles on many of the years that Belarus participated in, this does not mean this article does not need to have a decent run-through of that particular year. For example, 2006 Turin, as mentioned before, is a prime example of this. Further to this, you need things such as government funding to the teams, public reactions, possibly more information on your best athletes etc.

Category 3c - A symptom of being so short is that the article flits from subject to subject without having enough time to focus on anything. More detail is required in each and every section

Category 4a&b - There is no mention of public and rival views of the Belarus Olympic teams, no note of criticisms and no public reaction to success.

On the whole, this article needs considerable work to be brought up to good article standard, and thus, I have failed it. Should you disagree with my decision, feel free to put forward for a good article review. If you wish for further suggestions, leave a note on my talk page. Good luck! There is no original research in the article, all of the results are from the IOC and from the NOC RB. But I can see what I can cite or not. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 21:31, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've created stubs or redirects for the redlinks. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 02:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I also added all of the athletes that were charged/banned for doping. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 03:03, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
