Master tapes[edit]

The statement that the ABC "taped over the master tapes" of Bellbird is nothing new or extraordinary. The ABC did this with many programs of the time, almost nothing was kept on videotape after it had been transferred to 16mm film (using a process called kinescope). I would be very surprised if a huge number of Bellbirds, even the very early ones, were not in existence on film, and it's this that should be addressed in the article.
