AND
[edit]The album art clearly reads Belle AND Sebastian Write About Love... the title doesn't have an &. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.199.123.87 (talk) 03:56, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Belle & Sebastian Write About Love → Belle and Sebastian Write About Love — as per album cover. 81.142.107.230 (talk) 12:18, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- The band's article is located at Belle & Sebastian, so I'd rather see the article title remain with whatever matches the subject lead. The website (http://www.belleandsebastian.com/) uses &, so it appears the band uses and and & interchangeably. Inclined to say leave it where it is.--Labattblueboy (talk) 15:20, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Album title
[edit]People have been shortening the title down to Write About Love - I just wanted to point out that even though the majority of websites do refer to the album merely as Write About Love, Belle & Sebastian themselves have stated the correct title is in fact Belle & Sebastian Write About Love.
from http://www.belleandsebastian.com/qasearchk.php?searchterm=write+about+love
" From: C Q.Aw man, write about love, that song is something else! What an organ solo, definitely Alan price or Rod Argent worthy. But has the album released been pushed back from the 11th of October to the 25th? Gutted.
A. i think it's 'write about love' the single that comes out on 25th; the LP 'belle and sebastian write about love' is still due on the 11th i'm sure.
Sarah - 06/09/10"
"From: margot Q.so will the album title be properly listed as "Belle and Sebastian Write About Love" or just "Write About Love"? In 2005 when Franz released their second album, they called it "You could have it so much better with Franz Ferdinand" but the magazines and shops called it "You could have it so much better with.." I wonder if the same will happen here!
A. It should be 'Belle and Sebastian Write about Love' - as in 'Val Doonican Rocks but Gently'.
Sarah - 14/08/10"
As a result, can people please refrain from moving the page or editing the article to shorten the title down to Write About Love, as it is incorrect.

- Album titles often change in ways such as this. For example, TV on the Radio's last album was announced as Dear Science, and for a long time there was a fuss about the comma being part of the title but when it was released it was just Dear Science. The same thing's happened here. If you go to Belle & Sebastian's website you'll see many references to "Belle & Sebastian - Write About Love", "Write About Love by Belle & Sebastian", and "Write About Love" by itself. Their label's website also refers to it as simply Write About Love. zellin t / c 16:11, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Belle & Sebastian Write About Love → Write About Love — That's how the album is commonly called, and also how it's called on the official website.--Laurent (talk) 16:36, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Disagree, as per several previous arguments, such as the one quoted above in which Sarah Martin explicitly differenciates the two terms:
"i think it's 'write about love' the single that comes out on 25th; the LP 'belle and sebastian write about love' is still due on the 11th i'm sure"
and
"It should be 'Belle and Sebastian Write about Love' - as in 'Val Doonican Rocks but Gently'"— Sarah Martin, belleandsebastian.com
- Also, WP:COMMONNAME should be taken with a pinch of salt in this case, since renaming it Write About Love will result in two things (both the album and the song) with the same name. The best course of action is always to avoid confusion.★KEYS★ (talk) 17:47, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Belle & Sebastian Write About Love → Belle and Sebastian Write About Love — Per discussion, beginning below. ★KEYS★ (talk) 19:03, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Comment If kept, should be Belle and (vs. &) Sebastian Write About Love. To address Labattblueboy's concerns of the previous discussion, if you look at their album cover history (including singles), "and" is used almost (forgot about "Casaco Marrom" and "Introducing...") twice as much as "&" (16 vs. 10). That said, this point is somewhat irrelevant because it clearly says "and" on the cover... Wikkitywack (talk) 00:04, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
That change was discussed and subsequently dismissed. ★KEYS★ (talk) 17:47, 3 April 2011 (UTC)- I don't see a discussion above... I see a statement by Labattblueboy. He says, "it appears the band uses and and & interchangeably" - I agree; they use both "and" and "&" numerous times (16 vs. 10, as I said above). With that in mind, it is clearly inaccurate to call this album Belle & Sebastian... Wikkitywack (talk) 00:31, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I see your point now, from your second edit. That seems like a fair enough proposal. (I'll split the two discussions, btw.) ★KEYS★ (talk) 19:03, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
