Coordinate error/No longer exist[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

It appears Bengbu Airport no longer exist. When you look at the city of Bengbu zoomed out a ways you see the airport, but when you zoom in to the city which are newer photos you see that it is no longer there at all. There is another airport 6 miles from the former site of the Bengbu Airport visible in both the old and newer photos, most likely a military airfield unrelated to Bengbu Airport. —67.185.122.195 (talk) 19:37, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is safe to assume the airport described by the two of the sources in the article no longer exists. And for the military airfield, the article on Bengbu in the Chinese Wiki (zh:蚌埠市) indicates that it was important during the ROC period and that the city used to have a Class 4C Airport ("蚌埠机场历史悠久,民国时期为重要的军用空港,目前蚌埠仍拥有一个4C级标准机场。"). --HXL's Roundtable and Record 16:46, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved the coordinates into a footnote and have given all three possibilities. — TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 19:47, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates point to city center[edit]

Does this stub bear keeping given that the coordinate data is incorrect?

I have reviewed all the links and they all point to different portions of the city, including the middle of a river.We should delete this article as what little information this page has is incorrect.XantheTerra (talk) 00:33, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have expanded the article a bit based on what the article on Baidu.cn says. They both say that the old airfield has been too close to the city to be used safely anymore, and describe the new location (Renheji village in Qinji Township) that exactly matches the location of the new airfield on Google Maps sat view.
Since the new airfield was opened in 2002, the old airfield must have been turned over to city development at about the same time, so now wonder it's all built over by now. And yes, there is this "Now you see it, now you don't" effect on Google Maps sat view when you look at the old airfield; I have put 2 example URLs into a footnote.
And while Baidu describes the airfield as "dual use", they admit that the civilian use is some time in the future yet. So I understand that currently it is, in practice, a purely military airfield. -- Vmenkov (talk) 17:03, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
