I honestly am confused[edit]

If it's okay to state in prose that he's going to ride with another team next year, why is it wrong to put that same exact information in the infobox? Nosleep (Talk · Contribs) 06:26, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't say "he's going to ride with another team next year", it says "for the 2011 season (he) has joined (other people) in signing for Saxo Bank–SunGard. This is what we agreed last year: signing of contracts is an historic fact, and merits mention in the text whereas actually joining a team (which is what the infobox indicates), for as long as it is a future expectation, includes a measure of expectation. Tom Zirbel did sign for Garmin, but he didn't ride for them. I would imagine that description of moves in terms of contracts will usually serve as a placeholder until an update is appropriate: in a few months this article will probably say something like, "Noval switched to Astana for 2008, and for the 2011 season joined compatriots and team-mates Alberto Contador, Jesús Hernández and Daniel Navarro in moving to Team Saxo Bank-SunGard." Maybe I'm being stupid, but I just don't see the distinction. I'll just steer clear of editing bios for the next few months. Best solution for all involved. Nosleep (Talk · Contribs) 22:49, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
