Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because I maintain copyright to information the original site, which is about me, and composed by myself.

I have made several substantive changes, but as the details are factual, and short phrases, there is going to be repetition.

None of which responds to additional issues, common to writing an autobiography on Wikipedia, including those of neutrality WP:NPOV, WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY and WP:OWNERSHIP. As well, WP:PARAPHRASE refers to the slight modification of copied text. 99.136.252.89 (talk) 18:59, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will try to address neutrality, and do my best with the other issues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bnlawrance (talkcontribs) 19:08, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think I had deleted anything that appears too biased. Although I appreciate this is indeed autobiographical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bnlawrance (talkcontribs) 19:11, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is written with no snarkiness intended: In its current state the article is patently unacceptable. Any article which takes a biography from a school's website as a template is bound to read as promotional in tone; such entries are, essentially, public relations pieces, and, as in this instance, tend to look a lot like a resume, per WP:RESUME. In terms of formatting, all external links ought to be jettisoned in favor of inline citations, connected to a reference list, much as one uses in a scholarly essay. Finally, all of this would be far better if you allowed someone else to write about you, removing the human tendency toward vanity. 99.136.252.89 (talk) 19:13, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I did not read your message as snarky. I have tried to follow your citation style suggestions and other ideas. I have also addressed the copyright issues by adding a creative commons notice to the site, and emailing an email correspondence to wikimedia about the permission granted. I think the most recent cites added under 'Works' are helpful in establishing significance in your field. I've asked for help from an administrator to otherwise clean up and 'depuff' the article. 99.136.252.89 (talk) 21:18, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Otherwise, you're way too involved in this, and another editor has expressed the intent to bring this up at the conflict of interest noticeboard, which I'll support. 99.136.252.89 (talk) 21:22, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I have updated the website, to include reuse under creative commons license. http://www.rit.edu/cla/sociology/international/conable.html This material no longer constitutes a copyright violation. I have also emailed permissions-en@wikimedia.org. ( Bnlawrance (talk) 14:35, 18 January 2013 (UTC) )[reply]

I've tagged this again, for the reasons that commonly attend autobiographies here. There are numerous honors that don't merit listing in an encyclopedia (scholarships, Rotary Club membership), lists of publications without references supporting their individual noteworthiness, and very few references that actually refer to the subject. The lineage of the family name is irrelevant. There doesn't appear to be a single article about the subject; the notability of Barber Conabel is more substantially sourced here than that of Professor Lawrance. 99.136.252.89 (talk) 18:24, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
