Old concert hall

[edit]

Is there any need for the Alte Philharmonie, the concert hall the orchestra previously occupied, to have its own article? If so, I believe I can bring enough information together to create it. Otherwise, it is just a paragraph in the article about the orchestra. 00FF00 (talk) 23:26, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Official name in English

[edit]

This is officially called the 'Berlin Philharmonie' in English see here. --Kleinzach 23:06, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

see? 404 error of the Berliner Philharmoniker, that's what I see, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:10, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Try again now. But I'd hardly call that use "official". Angr (talk) 05:15, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why? Where do official names come from if not from the organisation itself? The German government? The UN? God? --Kleinzach 01:40, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean, and think the same. A combination of a phrase that has one part in English and one in German should be avoided, I think. These "official names": some organisations are not able to translate their own name, - see Evangelische Kirche, - then the result is taken as an official name, Evangelical Church, - only it is not an evangelical church, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:41, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If an organisation calls itself XYZ who are we to tell them otherwise? Kleinzach 01:36, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say tell them. I only said better use the original name (any language) and let the educated reader look, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:30, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:
