Category

[edit]

I don't think Mr Fanning, talented as he is, should be in the Australian Rock Guitarist category, as he is not generally known for his guitar skills (as opposed to Chris Cheney for example). I've removed him from the category. Feel free to add him back in if you disagree--Oz lowman 01:53, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think he should be in that category - he did play guitar on his solo album, and has been known to play guitar at Powderfinger's live shows. 60.231.113.172 06:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Married?

[edit]

An article in The Weekend Australian, on April 14-15 2007, stated that Bernard Fanning "...got married a few months ago to his Spanish girlfriend, Andrea Portela Moreno". This seems relevant to this article. Anyone else think so? 60.231.113.172 06:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Revert Possible Vandalism (2007/6/5)

[edit]

I removed "[Benard] thinks Melbourne band British India are the biggest bunch of wannabes he has ever seen and heard." because it seemed to be vandalism. If it is true, it needs to have a reference. Stu 11:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think, even if it's true, it should be listed here. What impact does it have? Not much. Is it inflammatory towards him or them if it's not to have any affect? Yes. It shouldn't be here unless there's not only a reference, but a real amount of press coverage. --lincalinca 12:27, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA review

[edit]
  • Years active 1993–present
    • Done.
  • Reference should be outside the bracket for his birth date
    • Moved to the end of sentence for added reliability.
  • Try remove reptition of married
    • Done.
  • In addition to a successful career with Powderfinger, Fanning also has(you already used "in addition" no need for also) achieved success with an award winning solo career, which he embarked upon while the group was on hiatus
    • Done, thanks for the suggestion.
  • Haug had recently formed Powderfinger with high school John Collins on bass guitar - high school friends?
    • Yep.
  • Upon -> on
    • In that context, either would have worked, but I've changed it anyways.
  • Why link June to June 2005?
    • Not sure why any of the months there were linked...
  • his work in local - you need to say where this local band came from
    • Changed "local" to "Brisbane"
  • Should months and years be linked? (question)
    • I generally do, but I've got no idea why (I don't think MoS encourages), so I'll remove.
  • The album was then recorded at
    • Done.
  • Fanning was backed up by Brisbane musicians Jerry Marotta, Keith Duffy, and John Bedggood, who also formed part of his live band - backed up?
    • Changed to "supported"
  • The majority of the album was recorded at Real World Studios - this is the second time you told us despite the mention of the other songs
    • Fixed (please check for clarity)
  • was voted on the Triple J Hottest 100 2005. - do you know which number?
    • Yep - #1
  • No need to link Perth, plus it's a dab page
    • I think the link is useful to non-Australian readers (especially those from Perth, Scotland...), but I've fixed the dab.
  • released their new album - remove "new" and the comma after album
    • Done.
  • Powderfinger also toured - remove also, you talk about the album being #1 so an additive term is not needed
    • Gah - I'm horrible with these things, thanks for picking them up :)
  • wasn't -> was not
    • Fixed one case - shouldn't be fixed in quotes, right?
Correct. M3tal H3ad (talk) 13:06, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ref 3 publisher needs italics
    • Done.
  • Alphabetize categories
    • Done.

There's also a picture of Powderfinger in 2007 in the solo career section. M3tal H3ad (talk) 01:22, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Moved to the PF reunite section. Thanks for the review! Dihydrogen Monoxide 07:29, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi talk page watchers: I am reviewing this article for WP:URFA/2020, an initiative that reviews and improves articles promoted to featured article status before 2016. I am concerned that this article does not meet the featured article criteria anymore. There is very little information about this person after 2010. There is brief mention of his 2013 and 2016 albums but not much evaluation about them. The "Style" section does not contain sources after 2007, and the "Political" section does not contain information after 2008. Is anyone interested in fixing up this article? If not, it is liable to be nominated for WP:FAR. Z1720 (talk) 06:46, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
