He is not the bishop of the diocese at this time.

[edit]

I find:

"With Hebda's appointment, a record seven Pittsburghers now lead US dioceses ..."

This actually is not changed by Hebda assuming his new position today. He is Coadjutor Archbishop of Newark, but the bishop of the diocese continues to be John Myers (Archbishop of Newark). If Myers ceases from his current post for any reason, he (Myers) would be succeeded immediately by his coadjutor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 16:45, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, the comment refers to his becoming Bishop of Gaylord. He has now left that to take up the coadjutor post in Newark, NJ. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 16:43, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
