If one compares this page with the german counterpart[1], there is disagreement on the beginning of his professional career. Here is stated 1972, in the german one 1976.

If this is still of interest: He started an apprenticeship as teaching Pro in 1972, his first appearance as a Tour Player dates back to 1976. Depending on your definition, both years make sense.
