There's not a great deal of info about Bernie (birth date for example; two different sites, two different dates) available on the net, so I have tried to make do with the links quoted. I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on this (did you guess?) but he is such a prominent figure and deserves a concise article - I hope some of you veteran wiki'ers can do a better effort than I can :) Orbitalwow 06:03, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Orbitalwow

Just a note to let you know I've managed to find quite a bit of info on Bernie - I'll endeavour to add it to the page during the weekend. I agree that he is a prominent public figure who warrants an adequate Wiki article. Regards. --Mcfine1915 07:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Abbott a gutless creep

Bilby, stop arrogantly editing over my information, please view this source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjklT59clE4 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.61.14 (talk) 01:44, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's better - the problem was that you didn't point to a source with that quote, and i there isn't a source we can't use it. YouTube is considered a bit iffy, but I'll see if I can find a second source to go with it. - Bilby (talk) 20:32, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article is biased

[edit]

This article makes the guy out to be some kind of saint. When James Hardie had to pay compensation to the asbestos victims, they said they'd only do it if the federal government made the payments tax-deductible, i.e. the government would be paying half of the money. Instead of fighting for what's right, like you would expect him to do, Bernie Banton showed his true colours, insisting that the government should agree to pay half because "that's the only way we're going to see the money" or something along those lines. It's extremely frustrating to see such an important detail missing from this article. This event proved that he wasn't motivated by justice or any altruistic aims like that; he was just in it for the money. Tony Abbot was right.
