Status of the article Jan 2025

The article should be sufficiently inline cited, if there any areas that jump out to readers that need citing please lmk I have read all of the sources myself (including those not added by myself) so should be able to get them added.

Otherwise in terms of completeness, I think the article covers his life quite well, information on his time in the Caribean or America as a civilian could be nice additions. Better sources on his early campaigns also be ideal, Encyclopædia Britannica (1911) has its problems but I have cut what appeared questionable from it and retained it where it speaks about less ambiguous events eg he was at X battle or event. Frenchempire.net is likewise less than ideal but I suspect it was used to write previous parts of the article but went uncited, I have added some content from it while also adding it to cite uncited information.

Otherwise I think the article is much improved and possibly deserves the inline citation banner removed and maybe even a bump up in rating from C tier to B.

Encyclopædia Britannica (1911) usage as a source

Large parts of the article are based upon this

But parts of the encyclopaedia entry and just wrong (re the Salamanca retreat), that I removed and sourced alternative text - this is where my area of knowledge ends.

I dont know anything about his life post spain, his politics/algeria

And all of the political life, army command in Algeria, important aspects of this chaps life appear to be described word for word based on what this source says.

That said I think it needs a complete rewrite LeChatiliers Pupper (talk) 18:04, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
