Besses o’th’Barn”[edit]

Is not a real ‘place’. It’s just a locality in Whitefield which, on the other hand, is a real place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.249.162 (talk) 21:25, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Greater Manchester County Council Arms.png[edit]

Image:Greater Manchester County Council Arms.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Pronunciation and spelling[edit]

As discussed in a blog post by John C. Wells /ˈbɛsɪz əʔ ˈbaːn/ would be the expected pronunciation here. Can anyone confirm this? Since this is not given for definite I've refrained from putting this in the article, but have upgraded "colloquially" to "commonly" if this is what everyone calls it. On another matter, different sources seem to spell it differently or place apostrophes differently. In Wikipedia's article on the Metrolink station it's spelt "Besses o'th' Barn", with a space missing compared to how it's spelt in this article. Whichever is chosen we should be consistent. As far as official sources go, Metrolink's website seems unable to cope with apostrophes and they have it as "Besses Oth Barn". The network map pictured on the blog post I linked to has the apostrophes but lacks the space. Old Man of Storr (talk) 01:17, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Context tag[edit]

Qxukhgiels recently added a {{{context}} tag to this article. I have removed it because I really do not see the problem here. Yes, it could be improved but then this applies to all stubs. Nonetheless, the context is that this is a place and that is made clear. Please feel free to revert after providing an explanation here. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 06:59, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
