Notable alumni

[edit]

Several alumni have recently been added without evidence that they are notable, such as physicist Ruifeng Pu and Professor Elizabeth Ozer or appear to be self-promotion as when author David Elfin added himself. Please link to articles that cite reliable sources.

Including year of graduation would assist in verifying information while providing a means to sort alumni chronologically. BoboLink81 (talk) 21:05, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To add on to that, are the presidential scholars notable alumni? They won while they were students and are (I believe) still in college. --NJSH —Preceding undated comment added 02:06, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni Editors

[edit]

Are there any B-CC alumni watching & editing the B-CC article?--Sand Squid 16:48, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, what about the history of the anti-war movement at B-CC, particularly the shut-down of the school during the student strike following Kent State, which I think is buried somewhere at the school's website. In 1971 we did away with the prom as soooo 50s plastic, but apparently this tradition revived along with other conservative trends. So much for the "Sixties." Tom Cod 05:15, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, so much for the sixties...who cares? Just because an event happened in your era does not mean it is noteworthy. So our school skipped a prom one year and the following classes didn't share your views. Wow, what a surprise. That never happens.--Sand Squid 22:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, but that era was noteworthy and those events, the Vietnam War and the anti-war movement, are of historical significance. Tom Cod 04:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

High School Quality & Controversy

[edit]

This section contains a lot of original research, which is not allowed per Wikipedia guidelines (see WP:OR). The text states conclusions that are not supported by the references. For example, take the statement "Although many factors have contributed to this drop, the rapid growth of the school - from 1200 in 2001 to 1700 in 2007 - has undoubtedly changed the demographics of the school." The cited reference supports the numbers, but nowhere does that reference imply that it has led to a decline in school quality. That conclusion can only be the result of original research. I am, therefore, removing this text and reverting it back to an earlier version in which only facts are stated; I am also changing the section title to a neutral "School performance". Let's just state the facts and let the readers draw their own conclusions. That's what encyclopedic means. If someone can supply verifiable sources that state the conclusions drawn in this text, they are welcome to change it. Truthanado (talk) 03:36, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Teachers and faculty"

[edit]

Not very sure how credible "ratemyteacher.com" is, or whether it should be used as an external link in the article (Teachers and faculty section). The section as a whole doesn't seem very useful either. --Joliv (talk) 23:23, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm new to Wikipedia, and have two questions for this page on BCC: How often is the information updated? There can be more-to-date information about the renovations the school is going through and the stats of our sports teams. Secondly, is it relevant to mention that BCC made state and national headlines recently for the underage drinking scandal and graduation, along with having the first gender-neutral Homecoming court? An important piece of information to add to this page is that although Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School was founded in 1926, it was a segregated high school until 1955. This history is displayed through a mural hanging in the school's main atrium. The first mural displays happy high school students doing a multitude of activities. However, all of the students in this mural are white. The second mural was added in 2009 by students after seeing the all-white mural and deciding to take action to portray their high school in a more inclusive and accepting way. 21:27, 1 September 2022 (UTC)~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neha576 (talkcontribs)
