Year of birth

[edit]

The article gives this actress a birth date of March 14, 1923. Her best known credit, the serial The Phantom Empire, is given a release date of February 23, 1935. I have seen this film, and I dare say that anybody who has would join me in denying that she could possibly have been no more than eleven years old during filming. The IMDb puts her birth in 1921 (same month and day), and further states that 1922 is incorrectly "most often given for her birth." The Allmovie page for Ross linked into References here also says 1921. Thirteen is something of a stretch, so long before fast-food hamburgers (from cattle given hormones to increase their beefiness), but I'll go with it. I will change the year in the article and put a link to this in my edit summary. --Tbrittreid (talk) 21:22, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe that the imdb is a reliable source, but AllMovie is considered reliable. Still, a birth date of 1923 is also given in Serial film stars: a biographical dictionary, 1912-1956‎ by Buck Rainey (2005), as well as the Halliwell reference. Possibly it could be one of those cases where a publicist lied about her age to keep her working. Shrug.—RJH (talk) 15:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am well aware of the regulation about doubting the IMDb, and did not mean to imply otherwise, or that this is a reg I have problems with (as far as this sort of information is concerned, anyway). Additionally, I apologize for failing to notice the Halliwell ref cite there. Despite the use of the word "several" in the text, both AllMovie and the IMDb give her only three actual film credits (four counting the feature re-release version of ...Empire), the other two in 1933; can't imagine someone claiming around that time of her life that she was younger than she was to keep her working. --Tbrittreid (talk) 21:45, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
