Conspiracy theory[edit]

So love jihad is a conspiracy theory but not bhagwa love trap? I can give you a list of everyday cases. 106.51.161.240 (talk) 00:55, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name change to Bhagwa Love Trap conspiracy theory needed[edit]

as it is sourced in the lead. Should match Love jihad conspiracy theory. Doug Weller talk 11:20, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Absolutely. Please move it. Though I suggest sentence case in the title — Bhagwa love trap conspiracy theory — and throughout in the article (except of course in direct quotes), again to match "Love jihad". Bishonen | tålk 11:26, 27 June 2023 (UTC).[reply]
  • One reference is not enough for it. The NPOV is simply "a term used on social media". For now, the present name is fine.

There are a lot of sources. Some are clearly unreliable, eg OpIndia. But all of them? I doubt it. Doug Weller talk 18:33, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The lot of sources, like OpIndia and others except one source, Scroll, are right-wing websites and totally unreliable, so we can't make a decision based on unreliable information. Even a Wikipedia article with lots of sources declared OpIndia a Fake News website. They had written about this subject as per their extremist POV, so we can't rely on them. ❯❯❯ Chunky aka Al Kashmiri (✍️) 00:09, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nowadays whenever a Burqa wearing Muslim girl is seen with a Hindu boy, expletives are used on social media with their private pictures taken from their instagram account. And they are also threatened and beaten on the streets.

The insinuation here was that of the “Bhagwa Love Trap”, a conspiracy theory like “Love Jihad”, which purports that Hindu men seduce and entrap Muslim women to convert them to Hinduism. The archived version of the tweet can be seen here.

India Today’s investigation found that the couple in the photo is from Uttar Pradesh and the woman was alive. The photo of the dead body in the suitcase is from Gurugram, Haryana.- https://www.indiatoday.in/fact-check/story/fact-check-no-this-hindu-man-did-not-kill-his-muslim-wife-photo-of-grisly-suitcase-corpse-is-not-her-2392463-2023-06-13

As most reliable sources mentions this as conspiracy theory, I support Doug Weller's suggestion to change the name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nusrat Jahan 201999 (talkcontribs) 04:43, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

After carefully examining the information provided and the associated links, I would like to contribute to the discussion by presenting my analysis.
The term "Bhagwa Love Trap" is used on social media to describe the alleged phenomenon of Hindu men luring Muslim women. It has gained attention through various incidents reported by reliable accounts on social media, accompanied by video evidence. The videos shared highlight instances where individuals associated with right-wing groups, such as the Sangh, openly express their intention to marry Muslim women.
One of the videos shared (link here) shows a member of the Sangh openly stating that they will provide financial incentives to Hindu men who marry Muslim women. This aligns with the concept of the alleged phenomenon mentioned earlier.
Another video (link here) features a victim sharing her experience of being taken away by a man and subsequently raped by three men. This case serves as an example of how the alleged phenomenon can lead to severe consequences for the targeted Muslim women.
Furthermore, additional videos (link 1 and link 2) provide accounts of Hindu men pretending to be Muslims, trapping Muslim women in relationships, and then pressuring them to convert to Hinduism. These cases highlight the complexity and various forms that this alleged phenomenon can take.
In a comprehensive video report (link here), the incidents of Hindu men targeting Muslim women are thoroughly explained with reliable references (shown in video), reinforcing the existence of the alleged phenomenon. The video emphasizes the open targeting of Muslim women by Hindu right-wing members and the distressing situations that can result from such actions.
Considering the negative impact of the alleged phenomenon, campaigns have been initiated by the Muslim community to raise awareness and address the issue. It is disheartening to learn that there are reports of Muslim men capturing and harassing Muslim women if they are seen with Hindu men. This demonstrates how a perceived threat can escalate into acts of violence and intimidation within the community.
Based on the evidence provided, it is evident that the term "Bhagwa Love Trap" accurately describes the alleged phenomenon of Hindu men luring Muslim women. The term reflects the reported incidents, which have been substantiated through video proofs and reliable accounts on social media.
Therefore, I would recommend retaining the name "Bhagwa Love Trap" for the article, as it accurately represents the alleged phenomenon that has been proven through documented incidents and video evidence. It is crucial to maintain a neutral standpoint as per WP:NPOV and ensure that the article reflects the verifiable information available.
Please feel free to discuss and provide your valuable insights on this matter. Thanks and Regards. ❯❯❯ Chunky aka Al Kashmiri (✍️) 07:55, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You said " It has gained attention through various incidents reported by reliable accounts on social media, accompanied by video evidence." It seems you believe this is true. Yes, there are videos of Hindu leaders asking conversion of Muslim girls but there are more videos showing Muslim girls riding bikes with their Hindu classmates, Hindu colleagues are stopped on road by Muslim men and the boy beaten up, heckled, the Muslim girl threatened for roaming with Hindu boy. A Hindu boy roaming with a Muslim classmate is not part of bhagwalovetrap. That is what you and those accounts believe.

As RJ Sayema (Sayema Rahman) said here.

Love Jihad and Bhagwa Trap theorists are regressive birds of the same feather. Disgusting! https://twitter.com/_sayema/status/1663790282704560128?lang=en

Kavita Krishnan said this

You’re the exact same as the Sanghis. For women you both are no different. They call love or SMA marriage “love jihad”, you call it “Bhagwa love trap”, and you’re both against humanity, constitution, democracy, love. https://twitter.com/kavita_krishnan/status/1664225042916605952

Here you are, calling inter faith love Bhagwa Love Trap. That’s precisely like Hindutva calling interfaith love Love Jehad. Those mobs in Fatima’s report - they do exactly what the Bajrang Dal does. Both can’t respect the principle of equal dignity of women, LGBTQ+ persons. https://twitter.com/kavita_krishnan/status/1664231635582173186 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nusrat Jahan 201999 (talkcontribs) 08:47, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The lead section[edit]

This article addresses a controversial subject, and I believe that the lead section should exclusively present information that is substantiated by a substantial number of reliable sources. Any additions to the lead section should be based on a consensus reached by multiple reliable sources, given the contentious nature of this topic. However, it has come to my attention that Thesaurabhsaha included the phrase Hinduphobic conspiracy theory devloped by proponents of the Islamist ideology in the lead section which is based on one single source. This appears to introduce a "right-wing angle" to the explanation of the topic. In contrast, the previous version adhered to the principles of neutrality as per the Neutral Point of View (NPOV) guidelines. Before doing this type of controversial changes, these things should be discussed on talk page. ❯❯❯ Chunky aka Al Kashmiri (✍️) 19:16, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your observation regarding the inclusion of the phrase "Hinduphobic conspiracy theory developed by proponents of the Islamist ideology" in the lead section, which seems to rely on a single source. It is crucial to maintain a balanced and unbiased approach when explaining a topic. The introduction of a potential "right-wing angle" may compromise the neutrality of the content. It would be advisable to review and consider alternative perspectives before finalizing such statements.

I have provided the links to some articles below.

The sources you provided do not mention the word "Hinduphobic" except for a single source from TOI. However, this does not satisfy me in considering the edit as neutral. The current version of article is neutral as per NPOV. ❯❯❯ Chunky aka Al Kashmiri (✍️) 04:17, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On 16 June 2023, Hindu Dharma Sena, a right-wing religious organization, declared a cash incentive of Rs 11,000 (1 USD = 82 INR) for any Hindu male who chooses to elope with and marry a Muslim girl.[8]

I have read the 'Statesman' article. The article has no mention of Bhagwalovetrap and is not related to this article. The 'statesman' article can be used in Reverse love Jihad section here, as the article uses the term "Love Jihad" many times, but not a single mention of "Bhagwa Love Trap".

Not done The point you mentioned for removal, and the reason given that it is not related to Bhagwa Love Trap, conflicts with the article's assertion. The article states that Bhagwa Love Trap is a conspiracy theory used on social media in opposition to love jihad, and this information is verified by reliable sources. The mentioned point is in the controversy section and is crucial for providing context to the article. ❯❯❯ Chunky aka Al Kashmiri (✍️) 12:45, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
