Sources[edit]

There's currently no sources (3 of them) with any detail further than a passing mention of the election result. They do not count for notability. Widefox; talk 12:33, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they do. See WP:POLITICIAN. All members of national legislatures are notable by default. This clearly isn't a speedy candidate. --Soman (talk) 13:20, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(ec, moved from my talk page) In regards to the CSD tagging, please note that the article had 3 references indiciating that the person was an elected member of parliament. also, although you may have concerns about the creator of an article, s/he is not the only person who has edited it. If you check the article history, you'll find that I already wikified and sourced it. --Soman (talk) 13:05, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree about CSD. The article had 1 when I tagged. 3 now. (see my comment above, and also in the PROD). POLITICIAN is a guideline which says generally, how can we be base a BLP (a policy) on 3 passing mentions that don't even only just substantiate this small stub? There may be some great sources so we can have a cup of tea? The tags for improvement and userdraft suggestion seem prudent, and at least the BLP sources still relevant. There is a well-established consensus that all national parliamentarians are notable by default. MyRepublica.com is a major Nepalese news outlet, and works fine as WP:RS. Ascii had linked the election commission website, which for some reason seems to be down at the moment. But there is plenty of other sources confirming the same info, such as http://www.thehimalayantimes.com/fullNews.php?headline=UCPN-M+loses+Bagmati+bastion&NewsID=397745 , http://books.google.com/books?id=Nnd5AAAAIAAJ p. 16 has the election result for 1999, finishing second with 18,404. --Soman (talk) 17:27, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the remedial. Agree it's notable. I was wrong to err on the cautious per your better CLUE. I just checked it, I was assuming BLPs have to satisfy GNG or something in terms of WP:V (e.g. 2 non passing mention RSes), but the standard is set by BLP PROD - they all need one RS. So not notable by default, no, they still need 1 RS. (Of course not being elected in 1999 doesn't establish notability). Widefox; talk 23:52, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
