There are quite the number of parts of this article that are taken virtually verbatim from his cnn bio [1]. I'm putting this on the copyvio page, even though I'm not tagging the actual article. ErikNY 13:13, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Whomever keeps adding "fan" links and links to a comic that may or may NOT be "based on" Hemmer needs to stop - or be reported to Wiki. The comic is NOT regarding Bill Hemmer and if you need to gain publicity you should do it elsewhere! This is an encyclopedia article, meant for scholarly and other research! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Queensenglishplease (talkcontribs) 21:19, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've further cleaned up the article, added the correct categories, and added references to all materials in the article. It would be really nice if one of the fans who continue to edit his biography with such vigor could obtain a photo for the article. Considering the length of my rewrite, I've removed the "stub" notation. This is now a full biography on par with his standing at Fox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Queensenglishplease (talkcontribs) 06:41, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Hemmer is not a Jr. Both he and his brother (William) Andrew are named after their father. His degree is not in Poly Sci but Communications. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FlamingjuneDePonce (talkcontribs) 00:20, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering if one of the admins can explain the situation regarding external links (see the "fan" links comment by Queensenglish) due to some questions from others. The issue in question seems to be the link of the comic "based" on Bill Hemmer.

On a later post, I believe I answered this using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links. Would admin or consensus of registered editors let me know of my understanding is correct so that I can explain it to others?

Trying to follow Queensenlglish's rational (which should have been explained and not put out there so rudely as fact). The link violates the policy regarding sections #11 & 13 of the Wiki external links policy. The link is not directly related to the person in question. If wiki had a section on the cartoon, the link would be fine on Author or Character's page -- but not Mr. Hemmer?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Naut2b (talkcontribs) 21:43, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked the admins to weigh in on this. QEnglish and others, please refrain from making any further additions (or deletions) of this link until the wiki admins have officially responded on this issue. Continuing the edit war is only hurting wikipedia. If you would like to comment or argue your case to an admin please do so in the appropriate section at (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard). "chad lad" non sequitur?

[edit]

"Hemmer spent ten years at CNN hosting a number of programs, including American Morning (originally with Paula Zahn then eventually with Soledad O'Brien), CNN Tonight, CNN Early Edition, CNN Morning News, and CNN Live Today with co-anchor and friend Daryn Kagan. During the 2000 Presidential Election aftermath, Hemmer's Florida anchor position briefly earned him the nickname "Chad Lad."[7]"

for a reader not having lived through the chad-ballot fiasco of the 2000 election, the last sentence of the quoted paragraph is rather unclear. some recasting could clear this i think.

1. Split paragraph into 2 (last sentence becomes standalone) and recast as 2. During the 2000 Presidential Election aftermath {link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election_in_Florida,_2000}, Hemmer's Florida anchor position briefly earned him the nickname "Chad {link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_(paper)} Lad."[7]"

i would do this, but i'm not quite wiki-savvy enough (yet) to do an internal link to something that doesn't read exactly like text. sorry.

finally, not quite clear on "Florida anchor position" bit. I believe CNN (then and now) runs anchors from Atlanta and NYC. Perhaps he was anchoring on-going from Florida during the chad debacle? I don't remember. --68.173.2.68 (talk) 15:03, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
