FWIW : i.e. I cannot confirm however:

Based on the timeline: During the 1981 strike in Baseball, Major league players must have had some time off to do with 'however they wanted'. Accordingly, I was quite surprised when Don Gillis was interviewing the two bowlers on Candlepin bowling (aka champion/challenger) to find out that the challenger was one Bill Travers and that he was a pitcher for the Angels. So to 'connect the dots': He participated in the roll-offs and made the show. This part I am now sure of, but I believe that this was not a one-off; I'm pretty sure he won the first week and did return. Not sure after that.

Hopefully some candlepin historian can 'confirm' ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.157.123 (talk) 18:23, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
