Dates

[edit]

Good afternoon

I have changed date of birth (year and date) as well as Billy Bridgeman's age at death. I have copies of his birth and death certificates (and marriage cert) from my Aunty who was his grandaughter. I am his Great Granddaughter. thanks. Not sure how all this works, or if this is the way to do things on wikipeadia as Im new here. Just wanted to update the info. Thank you.Bridgemanphillips (talk) 04:22, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for updating the article. In the real world your word would be good. In Wiki world whats needed is verifiabilty form reliable sources. The article has two which show 1884. Do you have any sources for the other date which all readers can verify?--Egghead06 (talk) 10:40, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - thanks for your prompt reply. I have his birth and death certificates. How can I upload those onto here, or should I go to the helpdesk? I don't want to take up your time. The online articles about him are incorrect unfortunatley. So really would love to get this right on here. Thanks for your help. Bridgemanphillips (talk) 10:59, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have raised the question here for those with a wider knowledge than me to hopefully advise you on what to do next.--Egghead06 (talk) 11:23, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's brilliant! Thanks so much. I'll keep an eye on it. Bridgemanphillips (talk) 11:32, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid the answer is that you cannot solve this in Wikipedia. If the reliable published sources say something, then that something is what should be in Wikipedia. If you claim that those sources are wrong, you need to get them changed, or get other reliable sources to publish the correction. Sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 16:24, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
