Undue weight

[edit]

In my option, this article gives undue weight to the accreditation status and reception in comparison to the content about the actual subject, such as history and operations. Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 21:00, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Josve05a, in as much as reliable sources discuss the place, they call it a scam. If you are familiar with the world of degree mills, the kind of obfuscation Bircham engages in to try to hide its lack of accreditation is pretty much diagnostic. It's ridiculously easy to get accreditation. Creationists have managed to get science degrees accredited. Bircham prefers not to do that, and to constantly email OTRS about how they are totally legit. I followed up one of their references, a Spanish government official, and it turned out that they had drafted the letter he sent, and he had no idea about the background. Hi

[edit]

Hi @JzG: I was editing Bircham University page and was checking history and found some sources to update the page. I want to know that which info is allowed as per your suggestions? HPlilly (talk) 17:59, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:PAID. GSS💬 18:07, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't understood that? You mean that you will only allow these edits if someone is paid to do the edits? Also, why referenced and true factual info is reverted?? I'll be thankful if you answer the questions above. Thank you for your participation here. I want you @JzG: valuable feedback as well since you are well versed in it. HPlilly (talk) 18:43, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You need to disclose your paid editing status as per WP:PAID because there is some off-wiki evidence that suggests you were hired to edit this page. GSS💬 18:48, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was not hired. I posted that project on freelancer to get a opinion because I was not well aware of Wikipedia rules on protected pages. I searched google for Wikipedia help and it directed me to freelancer. Then someone there told me to do it myself and use neutral and non-promotional tone with this page and only add verifiable information that is true. But if this needs to declared under paid and Wiki policies I can do that as I have no issues with it. This is all getting exciting and thank you for telling me all this. HPlilly (talk) 19:04, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

1 more thing is that I present the changes already so if JZG or you think they are fine please put them up again because as far as I know, anything true and verifiable is allowed on Wikipedia. Since you are taking ownership here, so I want you to guide me please. Thanks HPlilly (talk) 19:16, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

HPlilly, they are not fine. Steer clear of this subject, they have a years-long history of trying to abuse Wikipedia for promotional purposes. You have under a hundred edits, you lack the experience to take on something this contentious. Guy (help!) 21:20, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bircham-International University studies validation

[edit]

I am interested in the BIU PhD but my concern is if it would be valid in the USA. The answer they (customer service of BIU) gave me was " The degree you wish to take is not an official degree in the USA, it is a private degree that can be endorsed by the Hague Apostille to practice in the United States. I recommend that you carry out the consultation for greater security and thus proceed later to carry out the studies at Bircham." The question is where and who do I consult? 63.128.77.28 (talk) 15:47, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

All editors on Wikipedia are volunteers, and cannot provide you with opinions or advice about BIU. You should ask some government or trusted private accredidation or certification organization in the jurisdiction in which you reside or intend to work. - Donald Albury 16:45, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bircham International University is a member of the EADL?

[edit]

On the Bircham website (with the corresponding certification posted), they claim to be members of the EADL. The EADL is the European Association for Distance Learning, and seems to be legitimately recognized by CHEA?? - google EADL and it comes up, or search on CHEA website.

Under the EADL membership directory on the EADL website, they also list BIU.

This seems to be recent, with the BIU website stating: "In 2021, Bircham International University was admitted as member of EADL, so BIU conforms to the Quality Standards of the European Association for Distance Learning".

We all know how slippery some of these online universities can be, however, if this is accurate, should this not be added to the main page? SamSam7771234 (talk) 20:51, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like EADL is an organization promoting distance learning, but I see no indication that it is an accreditation body. Personally, I wouldn't bother adding anything about it to the article. Donald Albury 22:16, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
